Beach: Sea Animals!

Happy Friday Friends!

We have come to the end of another fabulous week.  Our newest friend Harriet is adjusting quite well, and all of the other babies seem to be very excited to have her in our room, especially our older friends since they have recently become very interested in showing love & giving gentle touches to the younger babes.

The theme of the week was sea animals and we had a blast with all of the super fun activities we introduced to the babes. On Monday & Tuesday we had our older friends sit at the table and  paste "starfish" onto our homemade aquarium; the younger babes were able to sit closely and observe this activity as well! Wednesday & Thursday we decided to have our circle time in the welcome center, since the school aquarium is located in this area. We used our sight & hearing senses to watch the fish swim and listen to the soothing relaxing sounds of the water in the aquarium. During circle time Ms. Jenn & I took turns imitating fish faces, tossing around an inflatable seahorse  and beach ball, we also played a short game of- i spy & pointed out the various colors of the fish; their little faces lit up with excitement as we held them up to get a better view! Shortly after we gathered materials for a great water sensory activity, we filled a basin with lukewarm water and dropped a few sea animal capsules in to watch them expand in the water. The babes became ecstatic watching the animals unravel and extend right before their eyes, they instantly placed their hands in the water to feel for themselves. Towards the end we allowed the babes to splish and splash til their little hearts were content.

We ended the week with a fire drill outdoors; the entire school did a great job of getting everyone out in a timely manner. The daisies really enjoyed the ride in the pak n play on our way out.

Book of the week: Rainbow Sea

Song of the week: Fish in the sea

(Sung to the tune of wheels on the bus)

The fish in the sea go swim, swim, swim
swim, swim, swim,
swim, swim, swim
The fish in the sea go swim, swim, swim
In the deep blue sea.

They look fascinated with the water! I am so glad we found the blog. It lifts my heart to see the cool activities and all the babies playing together.
