Hello Friends
This week was a blast as we continued our Color themed lessons, with Red & Blue being in the spotlight. Crystal and I went around the room looking for red and blue objects to put into a sensory bowl, the babes laughed heartily as we crawled around as they do. Red and Blue balloons were inflated to the kiddos delight. They had so much fun exploring the rubbery feel of the balloon and listening to the squeaks that was their little hands running over the surface of the balloon. Enzo and Parker were particularly fond of them. We also brought in fun soft shapes for the daisies enjoyment. This week we also learned about Hanukkah and the traditions that are celebrated. Everyone had a terrific time painting Menorrahs and Stars of David. Thursday, we celebrated a double birthday, with Parker and Adele both turning 1. How exciting it is to have two sprouts with the same birthday! The babes enjoyed a special snack that was brought in by Adele's and Parker's parents. They absolutely loved the berries & apples. Wow! What a fantastic week we have had! The Daisies absolutely LOVED our Wild Animals theme this week! They were especially happy when we sang a different version of “Old MacDonald” where he opts out of the farm for a zoo! Haha! It’s so great seeing the babes smiling and laughing with all of our Wild Animal impressions, Enzo has taken to mimicking the elephant sounds. At the beginning of the week we made Hippos out of paper plates and the kiddos got to help us paste on eyes and ears. During circle time we brought out a fun puzzle consisting of Wild Animals that the babies loved exploring! Finnlie was especially fond of it! She enjoyed grabbing two of the pieces and banging them together. Wednesday, Crystal and I started on some exceptionally cute Halloween deco for our room. We painted the kiddos’ feet with green paint and stamp their prints on purple construction, after they dried we added some black for hair and a couple of stitches to make adorable Frankensteins which we dubbed Foot-kensteins. They are so precious! I can’t wait for everybody to see them! On Thursday, Ms. Crystal was out but Ms. Lizzie joined us for the first half of the day and Mr. Nick filled in for the rest of the afternoon. He helped out in our art project where we made the most darling giraffes using the kids’ feet. Enzo celebrated his 1st birthday with us on Friday! His mom got to join us for a special lunchtime and brought delicious cupcakes to share with our friends. Our daisies were super excited when we sang “Happy Birthday” to Mr. Enzo!

I'm so excited to share all the fun activities the babes participated in daily! Throughout the week we listened to sounds of various animals who live in a farm; Ms. Jenn & I even pretended to be certain animals and made the sounds they make during circle time, it was too much fun; the babes sure enjoyed it! We created artwork using wine corks, googly eyes, paint and construction paper, our sheep turned out precious. As we blotted and stamped the squishy paint onto the paper we sang; Mary Had A Little Lamb! We ended the week with a fine motor activity. The activity consisted of, the babes "milking" a cow! Oh gosh, we had SO much fun during this activity the babes were absolutely fascinated with the reaction from tugging on the "udder" once we were done "milking" we allowed the babes to splash a bit of the liquid around for even more fun! Song of the week: Old MacDonald Books of the week: Goodnight Farm Barnyard dance Wishing you a fantastic weekend! <3 Crystal Hello, infant families! This week we talked about our NOSE! Throughout the week during each circle time, we introduced the babes to a new scent. We basically set up a smell station for them to explore. This was such a fun and odoriferous activity! We gathered together some baby food jars and recycled spice jars, stuffed some with a cotton ball that were each lightly sprinkled with a different scent; some scents that we used included: (dry scents) ground cinnamon, garlic powder. (liquid scents) Vinegar, vanilla & peppermint extracts. We only used a few scents so as to not overwhelm their noses, this activity had them very focused for about 10 mins straight! Later in the week Ms. Jenn and I brought out some cute costume accessories; a duck bill and a kitten's nose we talked about The different nose shapes and told stories about what they might smell. We ended the week by looking at pictures of things that have distinctive odors such as; skunks, flowers, and fruit. *We had our new friend Parker join us on Friday! He will be dropping in on Fridays regularly. The babes welcomed him with lots of love on his first day, it was nice watching everyone seem so interested in their new buddy.* Song of the week: Head, shoulders, knees, and toes! Have a wonderful weekend! Love, Crystal Good afternoon, infant families! It's been a fantastic week in the daisy room; I can't believe it's Friday already. I almost don't want this week's theme to end, since we've really enjoyed helping the babes explore their sense of sight. Throughout the week we've incorporated many sight games; It's never to early to practice early literacy skills! Many of the games we played involved searching for shapes and patterns. This type of play is especially great for helping the babes develop their memory! On Monday we read the first page on our book of the week. We carried out the one page reading throughout the week so that the babes were able to really focus on, searching and discovering the hidden shapes on each page. We ended the day by keeping the room dark after nap, in order to let the babes explore the soft glow & flicker of the candle. On Tuesday we packed a basket full of child sized sunglasses and brought it out during circle time for the babes to explore. They each picked up a pair and started to explore them with their mouths; Ms. Jenn & I began to demonstrate how we use/wear sunglasses and explained the importance of wearing them protect our eyes from the sun rays. We ended circle time with reading another page from our book while I wore silly eyeball glasses! On Wednesday we created a sensory bag! We filled it with; hair gel, glitter, and squishy, sticky eyeballs of various sizes and colors. The babes loved this activity so much! I always get so excited about introducing them to new sensory activities, they become so fascinated with the experience and it's almost as if you can see the connections their brains are making. On Thursday we made a calming bottle. We filled it with water, glitter, and eyeballs. On Friday we made one-eyed monsters using pieces of; yarn, paper plates, and of course sticky eyeballs! The babes enjoyed touching/feeling all of the different textures included in this project. We ended the day meeting a new friend for a play date, his name is Parker and he is 9 mons. You will get to meet him soon. We're thrilled to have him join the bunch! Song of the week: Head, shoulders, knees, and toes Book of the week: Searching for shapes Have a wonderful weekend! Love, Crystal Good afternoon, families! This week was amazing! Ms. Jenn & I were ecstatic to have our class complete with all of our sweet sprouts! The curriculum was focused on ears! We started the week off by listening to many different genres of music. We made animal ears out of construction paper for the babes to wear and explore! During our daily circle time we introduced the babes to our tibetan singing bowl, the sounds of the bowl were quite relaxing and worked perfectly to grab everyone's attention as needed. The babes were ultra interested in it, we later added some water to the bowl to watch it vibrate. On Thursday we got to celebrate our newest sprout- Orion's birthday! We sang happy birthday and watched him blow out the candle on his yummy cake that his mom brought in to share with the class. Song of the week: Do your ears hang low? Book of the week: What do YOU hear? Have a great weekend! Love, Crystal Greetings, infant families! This week we've focused on discovering the many things we can do with our toes and feet. This has been a great theme for the babies since some of our younger friends have recently found interest in playing with their toes! On Monday we helped the babies stand on their feet and squish their toes into some sand we brought in from the outdoor deck. On Tuesday Ms. Liz filled in for Jenn we love having her spend the day with us, she has so much love to share with the babies and they adore her! At the end of the day, Ms. Liz and I decided to gather some streamers and use them to tickle the feet of each babe. On Wednesday we created some artwork using their footprint, we decided to make "little piggies" since during circle time we acted out "piggies at the market" which was a lot of fun they certainly enjoyed us tugging at their tiny toes. On Thursday considering the events that occurred we weren't able to follow thru with our planned activities so we kept it a basic routine day for the babes. On Friday Ms. Liz subbed in our classroom once again! She introduced us to our newest sprout his name is Orion he is 11 months and he is so sweet, the babes were very interested in him as soon as he entered the room. We spent the majority of the day exploring a super cool sensory bottle filled with red glitter and water; the babes loved this object SO much it was a huge hit throughout the day. Book of the week: The Foot Book Songs of the week: Five little piggies This is the way we wiggle our toes Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Love, Crystal Hello, families! I hope you've had a wonderful week thus far. As for our week in the "new" classroom it has been quite calm, everyone is taking to their new surroundings really well! I'm so excited that the babies are loving the change of space and the new toys/materials that have been added to the play area. :) This week was basically introduction week, so we decided to extend last week's theme- *Hands & Fingers* I would also like to apologize for not posting a blog last week without any notification, after this week we should be back on regular schedule; Yay! Some activities the babes got to experience last week were: creating art using their hand prints, the part I'm sure the babes enjoyed most from this activity was being able to squish the cold paint in the palm of their hand. We also created a farewell card for Claire! We helped Claire and Austin walk around the circle of friends during circle time so that they could practice giving hugs to each other and the rest of the class, since this was her last week with us. It was a very sweet hug-filled circle time!! Some other fun activities they joined in on were: banging on various drums solely using our hands, as I read the book of the week! Oh gosh, we squeezed so many activities that require the babes to use their hands into our days and we had an absolute blast with each activity! Songs of the week: (It's a classic I'm sure you're familiar with) 1. Where is thumpkin. 2. Ten little fingers Book of the week: Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb **Have a wonderful weekend!** Love, Crystal |
