We had another beautiful routine morning.  We all gathered on the deck as usual and sang songs and explored our surroundings together, taking time to examine each toy closely.  The babies really love the routine of drop off, and I believe the structure of the routine during drop-off really helps ease the transition between home and school.
During exploration, Judah spent his time focusing on a silver measuring cup which he tapped on the ground gently and waved in the air.  Walter explored the kangaroo climber, opening and closing the door and standing inside to look out the windows. Tula sat back in observation watching her friends and vocalizing a "rolled r" sound. Genevieve focused on her physical skills mastering the art of climbing up and down the slide.
After lunch we did some coloring.  We brought out a few different crayons that are specifically designed for babies.  They are hollow on the inside and leave space for a baby to put their finger in to help with coordination.  We taped a few pieces of paper on the ground and allowed everyone to explore the crayons.  They were very curious, and tried to put them in their mouths at first, but after a few examples from the teachers they were scribbling down a few lines.  It was interesting to see how each baby had their own individual approach to coloring.  Everyone had a really fun time, and some were a bit sad when we had to put the crayons away to start nap.  This will definitely be something we use again in the future.
We have some after nap plans to visit with our new friend Miles who might be joining our room soon.  I hope we all have a nice and long nap so that we can be rested for our play date. Happy Thursday!
xoxo
