Happy October Infant Class! We are so excited to embrace the cooler weather and fun festivities that all come with the month of October! Today was a great day to kick off the new month! There was a group of 4 today, as one of our fellow Sprouts is out with diarrhea and a resulted diaper rash. There was no reported fever with these symptoms.
`Our day started off with changing out materials and toys in our classroom. We added a rocking house which was an absolute hit!  Babies took turns going for a ride. They were each a little skeptical at first but as soon as they mastered their balance the rocking began! We also added an "eating table" as a dramatic play opportunity  We set out all types of different play food, containers, spoons, cusp, etc. We brought in some big cardboard boxes and some solid wood blocks. We switched out our cars and brought in a wooden train set.
After morning nap ( and all other naps) we set babies up with a book and a bopppy! This routine is a great transition for waking up slowly and quietly (as some friends may still be sleeping) The babies also like being able to stretch their legs up by their heads and it makes for easy book holding!
We had a smooth and pleasant lunch! We added 3 red eating chairs that go attached to the table so babies can use table surface for feeding. This also allows babies to better socialize and conversate which one another. They absolutely enjoyed being eye level with their friends and teacher! Once babies signed that they were all done we washed hands and went straight outside on the deck! The sun and temperature were just perfect and it made for great outdoor exploration. The kiddos were very interesting in scooping and pouring water in the sensory table. After outdoor play we came in for a snack and some free play! The babies absolutely love the veggie sticks and they have been able to get a lot of signing practice in as we only hand out one stick at a time!
Free play was very engaged as babies explored new materials and toys.
  • Gage really enjoyed putting one single block in a big old diaper box then crawling inside the box to get it out!
  • Genevieve enjoyed eating and sharing food from the dramatic play area.
  • Julia had a blast pushing a ball across the floor then scooting after it.
  • Water enjoyed tasting just about every new wooden toy then found his way to the cardboard!

After free play we got nice and cozy for second nap. What a great nap it was indeed! We woke and sang our favorite songs then right into free play and pick ups!
Lovely Monday indeed!

Much Peace&Love
Toni
