Practical Life: Community Helpers/Occupations

Hello, infant families!

Oh, what an exciting week we've had! As you know we are continuing our practical life theme, and the topic we have been focusing on for the week is occupations/community helpers, Some community helpers we talked about this week were: doctors, chefs/bakers, firefighters, & police officers have discussed  the importance of community helpers and all the community based occupations with the daisies.

Throughout the week we set up various activities for the babes to explore.  Everyone got to color a picture of a fireman driving his fire engine, we used chunky crayons to color the page; they're perfect for little hands to grasp. We spent some mornings outdoors and introduced the babes to the bright red fire engine on the outdoor deck, during this activity Ms. Jenn & I described the job of a fireman and how important it is to the community; we also talked about the sound the siren on the fire engine makes and we later took turns mimicking the sound with our mouth. Some other activities we worked on during the week were making community helpers out of construction paper and the babes helped us paste the pieces together onto the pictures such as the bakers rolling pin, & cooking utensil, the doctors stethoscope & surgical headlight. As a sensory project we mixed food coloring and water to make ice cubes, we then placed them into a Ziploc bag with a picture of a police badge and let the babes explore the cold sensation of the ice and watch the color start to fill the page as it melted.

Book of the week:

Songs of the week:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Crystal
