A rainy Tuesday

1/8/2013

Today was a fun day inside! It was rainy outside, and Arielle returned today from her holiday trip so she wanted extra hugs from all of her friends today. Everybody except for Hunter was at school today.

We played in the classroom all morning. As some friends played, others did symmetrical art by folding a piece of paper that had blobs of paint inside the folded part. Ancel had a blast with puppets today. Sophie did lots of dancing. Olive cuddled with her owl lovey. Gage worked on puzzles. Genevieve hung out in a chair by the window. Wynn played with the felt board. Clara cuddled with Arielle. Noah relaxed in one of the red reclining chairs. Jackson arrived during lunch.

After lunch and nap we ate snack and welcomed Miss Abby, our new yoga teacher, into our class at 3:00. She sang some songs and did some simple stretches with the tots. They really liked her calm, soothing energy and we encouraged them to give her hugs after class was over.

After yoga we had a dance party, thanks to Olive’s dance party cd that she provided us. She did some fist pumping to her favorite songs. Wynn wiggled his hips. Clara and Noah danced around with Arielle. Gage bounced. Sophie ran back and forth, shaking her head around. Jackson smiled whenever he made eye contact with somebody. Ancel danced around without his shirt on. Genevieve watched the action from red chair on the other side of the room, and did some light reading, too.

We continued to play inside for the rest of the day. We did some artwork on round pieces of paper that will become this week’s “head” (we talked about heads during circle time and will talk about eyes tomorrow and on Thursday.) Tomorrow we will glue googly eyes to our “heads.”

Around 4:30 we transitioned to the toddler room, which lots of the pre-tots enjoyed playing in (especially in the cars and kitchen area.) Then we transitioned the few remaining friends that we still had around 4:45 to the primary room. It’s been a fun day inside and we are prepared to do it all again tomorrow, if needed!

*If you haven’t already, please bring in a licensing-approved nap mat for your tot. Please also bring a hand towel for the week if you haven’t already.

**Jackson’s mom, Ally, bought our room a nice coat rack (since the coats are taking up lots of space in the cubbies.) If you’re interested in volunteering to install it in the classroom, we’d greatly appreciate it!

***Arielle is continuing a boys’ clothing drive for her best friend’s son, who will be born in May. Please feel free to give her any unwanted clothes (or any type of baby stuff) that you’d like to pass along. Thanks!
