Another rainy day!

Today was rainy again so we stayed in the classroom all day. Cherokee was out sick so I spent part of the morning working by myself with the tots. Before most of them had arrived, Sophie, Wynn, Genevieve, Hunter, and Gage sat with me at the table and worked on play-doh (without eating it! Yay!) Once more friends started arriving at school, Olive and Sophie hung out in the toddler room so I wouldn’t be out of ratio. By about 10:00 Jackie from the infant room came over to work with us (Sophie was willing to transition back to our room at that point, but Olive was still busy playing in the toddler room.) Our friends who graduated from the infant room were very happy to see Jackie.

We sang lots of songs this morning and blew lots of bubbles. In fact, the bubble idea was Noah’s. He loved trying to pop them. Our other friends thought it was a fabulous idea. Jackson was very interested in books and Ancel loved playing with the toy cows (“moooooo!”)

Our friends started showing signs of being very hungry for lunch early (lots of pointing at lunch boxes in cubbies.) We sat them down for lunch about thirty minutes earlier than usual and coincidentally nap started early too. By about 1:30 everybody was up and ready to party (except Olive, who napped in the toddler room and joined us once she was up.) Magdalen (from the infant room) had switched with Jackie and spent the afternoon with us. We had two afternoon snacks: the first one after nap (before 2:00) and the second one was at 3:00, during Spanish class with Leona. Leona sang her usual hola and adios songs, but in between was a song that involved the kiddos ringing their own individual bell that Leona passed out to them. The bells are always a hit with the tots.

We wrapped up our day with lots of hugs, singing, book reading, and puzzle time. Around 4:30 our friends who were still at school transitioned into the toddler room, and then onto the primary room at 5:00. It’s really great that we are receiving so much rain, however, it’ll be so much fun to go outside and play soon!
