Happy Tuesday!

Fabulous day today at the Sprout! We are enjoying this sunshine and beautiful weather today. In the morning we buried things in the sandbox and pulled each other around in cars. While we were inside we read multiple books related to mommies and babies. Everyone is really excited about this weeks topic. Our students really enjoy and understand lots of the vocabulary associated with babies.

During circle time we talked about the photos on the wall. Kai brought in a photo of his mom and him and we were able to share it with the class. We also talked about mommy animals and baby animals. Our friends practiced the sign for mommy and baby. We also took out the baby dolls and practiced holding them, rocking them, and putting them to sleep.

In the afternoon we had yoga with Abby. We did ring around the yogi and practiced holding hands and moving in a circle. Our pose for the day was tree pose. Everyone enjoyed trying to do it. After yoga we went outside and enjoyed some splash time with the water sensory table.

It's going to start getting really hot really soon, so make sure you dress your sprout in comfortable and cool clothing. We will be doing our best to keep them lathered in sunscreen and bug spray.

I hope everyone has a lovely week.

Xoxo

Good Evening!

Today was fantastic! In the morning we played in the backyard where Hunter searched for and collected all the balls in her basket & Wynn helped her dig in our new garden!
Wynn enjoyed snacking on some of our Green Sprout garden's Broccoli! YUMMM!
Inside, we read Baby Yosemite during circle time! It's a book with all of the baby animals you'd see at Yosemite Park! Our friends really enjoy learning about the baby animals.
After lunch and nap, Abby visited for YOGA! She read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and taught the different animal poses throughout the book!
Genevieve made the Goldfish face & Tula sang the Butterfly song! They're impressive little Yogi's!

See you Tuesday!

Happy Weekend, All!

What a fun Friday we had in the Pre-Tot room at Green Sprout! As you can see, the morning was spent outside with the rest of the school! After nap the children took turns painting a big "Earth" with their hands. They love feeling the paint! After painting and snack we headed outside again. The toddlers had found a ladybug and they let me take it around to show the pre-tots. They were fascinated by it as it crawled around on my arm.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Today was great! It was warm enough to play in the backyard this morning!
Genevieve picked up some bubbles that were all gone, but pretended to blow them. She said "bubbles!" with a huge smile
Wynn slid down the slide in the sandbox a couple times while i snapped pictures!
Inside, we ate some cantelope and had circle time where Sandy read "Bunny & Bear Grow Tomatoes"
Our friends are growing SO much it's amazing! They've become more interested in reading longer books and helping their friends around the classroom. We've been learning how to empty our leftover snack into the compost, stack our bowls and push in the chairs! They love accomplishing these tasks!
After nap, Sophie and Wynn practiced their downward dog on our Yoga mats followed by snack, which was Sunbutter on Celery with Bananas MmMmM!
For our activity, our friends gathered leaves around the backyard and helped glue them onto an empty milk carton as a school bird feeder! Wynn pointed to the carton and said "MILK!"

Hugs!

Marbles, Trains and Bubbles!

We did so many things today! In the morning Ms. Ashley sat the children, four at a time, at the table and brought out train cars that have dowels sticking up on them. Colored blocks with holes through their centers fit over the dowels. Each child had a train car and Ms. Ashley showed them how to stack the blocks on their cars. Everyone had a great time and they were very proud when they stacked the blocks successfully on the dowels!

After snack we headed outside where we had a blast with the toddler and primary classes! Toni entertained the children by singing all kinds of songs sharing some love in the sunshine. The teachers also busted out some amazing bubbles and the children ran back and forth across the playground chasing strings of bubbles. It was wild fun!

Because some work was being done on the building we were not able to go outside after nap. Instead we went out onto the deck where we made earths by rolling marbles in blue, green and white paint. The green was supposed to represent the earth, blue represented water, and white the atmosphere. We rolled marbles back and forth to mix the colors and create fun marbled designs! They’re hanging up in our classroom, so check the out next time you drop off or pick up :)

Have a wonderful night, everyone!

We traveled inside for a quick morning snack and came back outside to play some more...it was such a beautiful day.
Our friends were in for a BIG surprise when all of friends at Green Sprout ate lunch outside in the backyard today!
It was like Earth Day, Family style!
Our friends were really interested in the recycled wind chimes I made over the weekend! They had aluminum cans, with bells and records and feathers! *ring, ring ring* They're hanging in the big tree!
After a long nap, we had a small snack and headed to the backyard for our awesome Earth Day Celebration!
Thank you for coming to celebrate this awesome holiday with us!!!!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today we made polenta pizzas with Liz. To go along with our space theme, the polenta was cut into stars. The children put sauce and cheese on top. They had a blast eating their delicious pizzas!

Sandy managed to get some wonderful pictures with all the children who were at school today. You can see some of the process it took to get them all sitting on the log. What sweet kids!

As always, lots of fun was had out on the playground. Our friends are really enjoying the beautiful weather we are having!

Have a great weekend!

Today was a BLAST!
We started our morning off taking turns riding the dinosaur and having some fun in our classroom.
While snacking on strawberries and bananas, we listened to the ABC's Star Wars storybook on Vinyl. It's awesome.
After snack, our friends were really excited to head to the Moon in our recycled Space Shuttle! It's authentic haha!
We were shouting "USA! USA!" and singing Zoom Zoom Zoom
I asked Sophie "Are you bringing a spoon to the moon!??"..."yep!" : )
((I spotted more hugging today!!))
After healthy lunches & peaceful, rainy naps...our friends played with Play-doh!
We were stamping with star-shaped cutters, rolling and molding.
Our Pre-tots are really interested in our Sun, Earth, Moon and Stars this week! It's great to see them make the connection through picture books and art.

Hugs!
Ashley

Over the Moon!

What a fun Wednesday we had in the Green Sprout Pretot classroom!

We learned about the moon during circle time by reading a book called "Happy Birthday Moon," which is about a bear who wants to give the moon a birthday present so he climbs a mountain to get closer to the moon and talks to the moon through echoes off the surrounding mountains. After nap we talked more about the moon and how it has craters on it. Each child received a "moon" and then glued cheerios to it to make craters. Some children were more interested in eating the cheerios than using them for the art project, but everyone had a great time.

As always the children love their free play time. We spent as much time outside as we could and everyone was in great spirits! We also had a blast indoors as well. Here are some things each of our friends particularly enjoyed:

Julia cooked up some food in the kitchen under the playscape. She was joined by several friends at different times. Julia is fitting into our class very nicely!

Tula had a blast on the little slide in the sandbox. She even struck a pose at the top. Tula also enjoyed reading books on her own. It's wonderful to watch her become engrossed in a book!

Wynn had so much fun exploring a big box I brought in for the class. He climbed in and out, turned it on all sides and even climbed on top of it! He had a fantastic time laughing and sharing the box with Sophie. Wynn is usually a very active boy, but he also has a great ability to focus when he sits down with a book.

Sophie also had a great time with the box. Her and Wynn were like two peas in a pod! She also found a bean on the playground which she pretended to eat with a big smile on her face.

Genevieve enjoyed pouring sand from one container to another, dumping it out and then laughing. She also filled a basket up with toys and called it her backpack. Genevieve also surprised her teachers by singing her whole ABCs for them! Like many of her friends she also enjoys reading books, both alone and with her teachers and friends.

Jackson had a blast in the sandbox pouring sand into buckets, shoveling and chatting with friends. He also loves the garden, and because we are not allowed to pick off the plants, Toni brought him some parsley to munch on. He loved it!

Hunter is our class musician. She carries our little piano to a spot on the floor and plays beautiful songs! Her friends like to join her whenever she plays. She also enjoyed working on puzzles, fitting different colored houses into their spots.

Judah loves the camera! When he sees that I have my phone out he comes up, looks into it and gives a big smile. Sometimes he makes a funny face. Judah also likes bringing things to his friends when he finds their sippy cup or bottle!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Today we talked a little about outer space. I explained how the sun was a very large star, and how there are other stars in the sky. We pointed out the moon, stars, and planet earth up on our circle time board. We sang 9 little planets to the tune of 10 little fingers.

For our art activity we decorated a star. I passed out small pieces of yellow paper. Everyone watched me as I created a star on their paper out of glue, then everyone got a chance to sprinkle red glitter on their star. To finish it off, we set our stars in a tupperware to shake and allow the rest of the loose glitter to stick to the glue. It was very exciting.

In the afternoon we had yoga with Abbey. We sang our regular songs of Rub Your Hands, Float Like a Butterfly, and The Itsy Bitsy Spider. Everyone enjoyed practicing their animal poses and showing off their downward dog poses. After yoga we had snack and went outside where we watered the garden and ate some kale. Next week is our Earth Day celebration and we are going to start working on some earth focused activities. I hope everyone is having a good week so far.

Xoxo
