Today was a lot of fun! We started off with our usual Friday dance party and some of our friends came to school dressed up, which gave the day a very festive feel! After snack Hunter's parents, Nikki and Alan came to visit and brought in some musical instruments. Alan played a trumpet, a trombone and another very large horn. He played some of our favorite songs and he even let the children try playing the trumpet. The kids loved it! They all gathered round and listened and watched intently. What a great introduction to these instruments! I hope you all have a great weekend! Stay cool :) <3 Magdalen

Hunter turned two today! Her parents came in in the afternoon and brought us a yummy snack of watermelon :) Thank you! We started off the morning with some fun on the slide! Miles went down the slide all by himself for the first time at school. He had the biggest smile on his face the whole way down. Kai decided to follow suit and he also had a blast. Soon Tula joined in the fun. When we headed inside everyone seemed to gravitate towards the toolkit. Kai went around the room measuring different areas. Jackson took the saw to the toolbox and Hunter and Julia used the screws and screwdrivers. Miles grabbed a screwdriver and set off to build with some bricks. This morning we also did some painting for a secret art project. Everyone got really into the project, mixing the colors and trying out different brush strokes. In the afternoon we headed out to the playground for splash time. We filled the sensory tubs up with water and our friends had so much fun pouring water from one container to another, splashing together, watching objects float, pouring water on themselves, and filling up different containers with water and then dumping them out. Tula was very focused as she carefully poured water from one container into the small opening of another and back again. We turned on the hose and the children had a great time running through the spray. Have a great night! <3 Magdalen Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Today we had a fun day learning more about our community helpers. Today we talked about firefighters and bakers. We discussed how firefighters put out fires with waterhoses and how bakers like to bake delicious treats to eat. In the afternoon we spent time in the bakeshop baking up treats. All of our friends got to explore and create “cookies” out of playdough to share with our friends. We “baked” brownies, cake, and different kinds of cookies then asked our friends if they wanted to try it. We also had yoga today with Amelia. Our friends are still getting to know Amelia, so they are a bit shy; however they do like to sing and dance, so they are not shy when she sings a song that they know. They will definitely let you know what they like to hear. We also had a dance party in the toddler room. Dom, Jackie, Toni, and myself all showed off our dance moves to “Gangnam Style” and the kids joined in. We were moving and shaking pretty hard; I think everyone was exhausted after that business. Hi friends, I hope everyone had a good weekend! It was great to see those of you who came to the potluck; it was a lot of fun! We were very busy today. We are still learning about our community helpers, and we talked about doctors, teachers, firemen and farmers during circle. We also took the corn that we sprouted last week and planted it in our garden. Some of the kernels had sent out really long roots, and we talked about the roots and the shoots of the plants. The children loved helping me loosen up the dirt and add compost to it. Then we carefully placed the sprouts in the ground. Hopefully they will continue to grow! In the afternoon Ms. Abby came for yoga. As always, they had a wonderful time stretching like butterflies, jumping up and down, and giving big hugs. After snack we brought out some play dough and some sticks to use for "construction." They all really got into sticking the sticks into the play dough and making different little formations. It was so much fun to see them explore these materials. Have a great night! <3 Magdalen Happy Friday yall! We had a really fun day today dancing our booties off outside on the playground this morning. Everyone was very excited about wearing costumes and checking out some of the other kids in costumes. In the afternoon we had a cooking project with Miss Liz. She came and helped us make quesadillas. Everyone got their own tortilla and was able to crumble and spread queso fresca all over it. Then we put some avocado and mixed peppers in their too. The best part was eating it of course! After snack we spent a long afternoon playing inside staying cool. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! See you at the potluck. xoxo Sandy Today was so much fun! We started off with circle time where we reviewed all the veggies we learned about earlier in the week. We read a book about tractors and sang “Old McDonald.” We also showed the children some beets and talked about how they are roots, like carrots, that grow under the earth. Then we gave each child a piece of paper with the outline of a beet drawn on it and a chunk of a raw beet. They had a great time stamping and brushing the red “paint” onto the paper. Unlike most of the paints we use, we let them put the beets in their mouths, and some of them munched away! This activity was a great way to really explore this vegetable using touch, taste, smell, sight, and sound (as they stamped the beets into the paper on the table). And they got to make some sweet art! In the afternoon we headed to the deck for splash time. Today Nick set up a hanging sprinkler that was made out of a PVC pipe with holes out of which the water sprayed. Each time we have a splash day the children become more and more comfortable with the water. Today everyone really got into it in their own way. Miles splashed in the sensory table and stood under the sprinkler, having a ball! Kai pushed around a wheelbarrow, collecting water that streamed down from the sprinkler. Genevieve stayed relatively dry, but had a great time filling containers with water and then dumping them out. Jackson sat in a bucket of water, splashed and played with some little fishies. Tula and Julia had so much fun dancing and splashing together in a tub of water--one of them would stomp her feet in the water, then the other would join in, then they would both laugh. What a great summer day :) I hope you all had a great day as well! Much love always, Magdalen Happy Tuesday ya'll!!! First of all I would like to welcome Livio to our classroom. Today was his first official day of school and he did such a great job. He was very curious and enjoyed looking at all the toys and hanging out with his new friends. All you parents should be very proud because everyone was so kind and welcoming to Livio and really helped make his first day a great one! We started out our day today in the classroom reading books and playing with some carpenter's tools. It wasn't long before we were invited into the toddler room for a dance party. It was a pretty excellent dance party. Our friends are getting really good at shakin' their booties and moving their arms. They also really like to hang out in the pre-tot room. I think it makes them feel older and more mature ;) haha. After snack we let loose and stripped out of our clothes to go outside and play with some mud. We have been talking a lot about farming lately and all of the animals that live on the farm. Today we talked about the pigs on the farm. We discussed how the pigs really like to get dirty and cover themselves in mud. For our activity we went outside and created some mud balls and splattered them all over our pink piggies. Everyone had an awesome time getting dirty and an even better time getting washed and cleaned with the hose. Don't forget that the potluck is this Sunday at 10:30 am at Bartholemew Park! Hope to see ya'll there! Xoxo sandy What a day! We had a lot of fun in the morning greeting our friends from the weekend!
Today during circle time, we showed our friends the vegetables and fruit pictures and talked about the Farm and how it helps our community to fill our bellies! Here's a song we sang: (To the tune of Wheels on the Bus) The Cows on the Farm go Moo, Moo, Moo " " All day long! The ducks on the farm go Quack, Quack Quack... " " All day long! *and so on... Our friends are pretty awesome at recognizing the food on the Farm and Farm animals! YAY! Later in the day, we planted corn seeds in ziplock bags, in hopes that they germinate so we can plant them in the ground! & also had Yoga with Miss Abby!!!! Hugs, Ashley Happy Friday Ya'll! We had a very exciting day beginning with our usual dance party outside on the playground. Genevieve showed off her dance mooooves and Miles watched for a while before getting the courage to get up himself. Kai hung out in the sandbox and went up and down the slide while Hunter made “soup” in the kitchen. Julia and her sister Mia sat in my lap as we sang songs and Tula hung around the climbing dome. When we went inside we had another dance party of our very own. We listened to some Passion Pit and wrapped ourselves up in different colored lights. Some of us held disco wands which we waved in the air and displayed on the wall. Everyone had such a good time. There was lots of laughing and dancing going on. I hope that everyone has checked their lunchbox and found their special Father's Day surprise! Have a wonderful weekend. Xoxo Sandy Hi Mom & Dad! Yesterday was a great day! A little pretend play, Father's day crafting & splash day to top it off! I've got a lot of pictures, so I'm just going to post them with comments : ) Here's the traffic light song lyrics, too.
