Howdy friends!
What amazing weather we've had this week! Lots of sunshine and cool breezes drifting into our backyard allowing us to play outside for extended periods of time. Our little tulips were absolutely loving this weather as with all of our other school friends. This week we focused on mouths. there were lots of fun activities that we did throughout the week that allowed us to discover the many things we do with our mouths. On Monday we did an art activity using big drips of water color and our little tulips practiced blowing the drops across their paper using a straw. This was a pretty advanced activity for them but they did amazingly well!On Tuesday we practiced brushing our teeth. I know all of our parents are really excited for this because brushing teeth is something that is one of our daily routines in the morning when we wake up. Our little guys did exceptionally well during this activity! Yay!!!

Hey friends! What a great start to our week! This week we focused on noses and had our little tulips point to their nose. On Monday we used scented markers and had our kiddos smell the markers before coloring on their paper. Many of them wanted to eat the markers but we showed them that the makers are best used on paper and not our mouths :) On Tuesday Miss Sandy did an activity where our little tulips got to practice blowing their noses. On Wednesday we did an activity where our little tulips got to smell different scents that we put onto Q-tips. They also got to smell real things such as the basil and mint from our garden. We also had a bag of lavender that they got to smell. They had such s great time smelling all the different fragrances. Thursday we had a playdate with Juliette who will be joining our class in the near future. Our little tulips had a great time getting to know her. Our little tulips rocked circle time as always and got to show her our songs.Friday was rainy so we began our morning indoors and used crayons and markers. Then once the rain stopped we all headed outside and explored our wet backyard! Greetings Pre-tot Fams!!! We have had such an amazing and exciting week here at the sprout. We had our newest member, Luke, join our class this week and he will be coming every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday just like our friend Julia! This week we focused on our eyes and did several activities in which our friends learned to recognize when they are using this particular sense along with other senses in whih we have already learned about. On Monday I cut out big circles and our little tulips pasted 8 googly eyes on them. Then afterwards I punched 8 holes in the circles and put pipe cleaners to make 8 crazy legs; end result, SILLY SPIDERS!!! For this particular activity our kiddos not only had to utilize their eyes to see where they were placing the googly eyes, but they also had to utilize their fine motor skills to pick up each googly eye and plaste it onto the paper. On Tuesday miss Sandy did an activity where she made the room dark and placed my phone somewhere in the room where our kiddos could see the light blink on as she called it. We also had the volume on so that they could listen and see where the phone was located. Wednesday was a lot of fun!!! We had a light show display for our little tulips! Miss Magdalen turned off all the lights and made it real dark and brought in some disco lights. Our little guys and gal were awed when they saw the lights shine throughout the room. Each got a chance to hold the lights and really observe it. Thursday we practiced our hand and EYE coordination. We went outside and sat our little tulips in a circle and rolled a big blue bouncy ball to each other. Each kiddo took turns rolling the ball to each other and even bounced it a few times. We all had so much fun rolling the ball back and forth. Hurray for fun fun Friday! Today we spent most of our time outside enjoying some music and socializing with all of our friends from other classes. We still stuck to our usual routine where we transition inside and do snack and circle time, but right after we all headed back outside for some more outdoors exploration. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and we'll see y'all on Monday! Much love, Cherokee <3 Greetings Pre-tot Fams!!! We have had such an amazing and exciting week here at the sprout. Here are some highlights: Miles had a blast dancing and playing peek-a-boo with the parachute. Julia rode one of the little “cars” and bounced up and down as she smiled and threw her head back laughing. Malik played with a new friend, Juliette, who will be joining our class in about a month or so. They passed a container back and forth and explored the mulch. Livio bonded with Dom and watched everyone on the playground from his perch on a bench. We also painted tulips on the fronts of our Green Sprout t-shirts! They should be all ready to wear next week :) Have a great night! <3 Magdalen Hello pre-tot Fams!!! What an amazing day we had today!!!! We all began our morning outside with all of our older friends and got to look at the inside of one of our watermelons from the garden. Livio even tasted the watermelon. Malik and Miles enjoyed poking it with their fingers and picking out some of the seeds. Later, we all went in for snack and Circle time; by the way, our lil tulips are rocking circle time like pros! During circle time we sang our good morning song followed by our days of the week song and the weather song. Then miss Sandy read "Eyes, Ears, Toes and Nose," and every page had a body part in which we had them show us on their body; they did fantastic!!! After reading the book we sang "Do Your Ears Hang Low," and "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." Shortly after circle time, we did an activity where our little tulips painted a picture as they listened to a variety of instrumental music; some songs were slow or fast paced. I did this activity in my music class at Texas State and my professor said that this is a great listening activity when combining music and art. I noticed that when a song would change the flow of their artwork changed to :) Once we were all done with our listening/painting activity, we all headed outside for some more outdoor exploration. I am so proud of our little tulips and how well they are adjusting and learning their routine :) Until next time friends! Much love, Cherokee <3 Hello, Families! I hope everyone is having a great week so far! We worked a lot on listening with our ears today. We sang songs and read lots of stories. During circle time we brought out some instruments, such as our little "piano," drums and shakers. First I demonstrated the different noises and notes that the instruments make and then I passed them to the children. Miles and Ronav enjoyed rocking out on the piano while Julia drummed away. Livio took a shaker and played along. We sang twinkle twinkle and Cherokee played it for us on the piano. The children really love music and every time they hear a song they bounce up and down. Playing music together and listening to the different instruments was a fun way for them to see that they can make music too. In the afternoon Ms. Cherokee led a little Spanish class in which she read a book about the different things that babies need. Miles had already requested this book multiple times today, and everyone was happy to hear it again. As books and songs are repeated over and over the children start to really engage with the material--they start singing the songs along with us or pointing out familiar pictures and naming objects in their favorite books. Have a great night! <3 Magdalen Happy Tuesday ya'll! I hope that everyone had a lovely 3 day weekend. We came back to the sprout ready to have some fun! This morning we sat outside on the big table and painted some pictures. It was a nice transition for our recently returning friends; what a relaxing way to start the day. After we were finished, we hung them up on the rope for everyone to see. This week, we are learning about our ears. During circle time we read, "Eyes, Ears, and Nose". Our friends really enjoy this book because it allows them to peek under hidden pieces of clothing to reveal body parts. They asked to read it over again of course. We also looked at photos of ears including a kid's ear and a dog's ear. Everyone was able to point out their ears and their friends' ears. We also sang, "Do Your Ears Hang Low". For our activity today we played Hide and Listen. I hid Cherokees phone in different spots around the room and called it with my phone. The children were encouraged to use their listening ears to find where the sound was coming from. It was a bit challenging at first, but after a few tries they got it. They were so excited to do it over and over again. We might have to play this game again this week. We had long, lazy 3 hour naps today and everyone woke up so relaxed and calm; just in time for yoga with Miss Amelia. We went through our usual routine of songs and everyone enjoyed trying to sing/dance along. They are really getting comfortable with Miss Amelia and getting to know the songs pretty well. They even started singing them at different times throughout the day. I want to remind everyone to please sign in and out everyday and please bring a hand towel for the week if you have not done so already. I hope you all have a lovely week. xoxo Sandy |
