Greetings Families!
Hope you all are enjoying this sunny weather we've had this weekend, let's hope it lasts! Despite the on going wacky weather we've been having, the Tulip classroom continued to have a wonderful week. Our week was full of learning new songs (Spanish and English), art projects, and incorporating new yoga songs (or perhaps just new to me). On Monday we incorporated toilet paper rolls into our art activity and created stamps. The kids got to dip the toilet paper roll into paint and stamp it onto colorful construction paper. We also had the pleasure of having Ms. Anne come and teach yoga with us. My favorite song that we sing with the kids goes a little something like this: "The cows are in the meadows eating butter cups, thunder, lightning, we all stand up!" And all the while we're on our hands and knees in cow pose. On Tuesday we used googly eyes for our morning project. Our little Tulips each got a circle cut from construction paper and got to stick little (or big) googly eyes on their circle. They really seemed to enjoy it! In the afternoon we had yoga with Ms. Vanessa. We did Tick Tock Little Yoga clock, and sang the song which I'll call "My Little Light." And that song lyrics are, "My little light bows to your little light (x's 3), my little light bows to your little light, namaste." And each time we say "my little light" we put our hands together and we point at each child. On Wednesday (I missed the morning) but we had a drum circle!! Magdalen and Cherokee said everyone really enjoyed it, and the pictures show it! We also included the xylophone, shakers, maracas, and the other instruments that are in our classroom. On Thursday we incorporated our Montessori learning toys and had each child play and look through circles that had different colors inside. Everyone really seemed intrigued by putting it up to their eyes and seeing how everything was a different color. Friday was a snow day. During our circle time this week we really focused on the shape of a circle. We sang "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Ring around the Rosey." Next week we will be focusing on hearts! We are also having a potluck on Friday from 4:15-6:00 to celebrate "Love Day" ! I am VERY excited about that :D See you all on Monday! Much love, Jackie S.
