Moon Dough

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope that you all have had a lovely start to the week. Today we focused on textures. During circle time we passed around the swatches from Home Depot and we talked about different textures as we felt each one. “Is it bumpy? Is it rough? Scratch it. What does it feel like on your skin?” Our friends really enjoyed feeling each one and passing it to their friends. We then got to examine a bunch of feathers. Each friend was very intent on picking a specific color to examine. We then blew our feathers up in the air and passed them around the circle. Finally we looked at some smooth rocks and some rough, scratchy foam balls. Everyone is really enjoying the texture theme.

For our activity we played with Moon Dough! It is similar to playdough, but much softer and lighter. Our friends enjoyed smashing it, squishing it, and putting it between their fingers. They also broke it up into small pieces and then tried to put it back together again.

In the afternoon we had yoga with Annie. Annie began by allowing all of our friends to tap the singing bowl. She then took out different stuffed animals and had the kids name the animal, make the sound of that animal, and then practice the pose. Annie is still a pretty new face, so the kids were a little nervous at first, but sure enough by the end they were giving hugs as if they had known her forever.

I just want to remind everyone that this weekend is parent-teacher conferences. I look forward to seeing all your bright shining faces on Saturday.

Xoxo
Sandy
