Snowy And Cold Weather....brrrrrrrr

Hi Tulip Fams!!!

We have been having such a great week here at the sprout despite the cold/rainy weather. Unfortunately, one of our kiddos was out sick for the week :( but thankfully he's getting better and should be ready for action next week!

This week we focused on cold and snowy weather.

On Monday our tulips got to mix blue and white paint using sponges. We used these colors because we associate blue with cold. Once their painted masterpiece was dry we drew a unique snowflake on each one. We also had yoga which all of our kiddos love to engage in.  Some of our kiddos like to just observe while others imitate or copy what our yoga teacher is doing.

On Tuesday we discussed how the cold weather makes us shiver and things we could do to help keep warm. We discussed how moving around helps keep our bodies warm, then we followed up by singing our "jump up and down" song where each kiddo gets a turn jumping up and down. We also got to work with our Montessori puzzles and talked about how we use them.

We've been focusing a lot on routine this week along with our curriculum. I'm so proud to say that our little tulips are doing fantastic adjusting to our daily routine considering how the weather has affected our daily schedule.

On Wednesday we did a sensory activity where we had two bowls; one with warm water and the other with cold water. They each took turns placing one hand in each bowl and feeling the difference in temperature. Half of them enjoyed putting their hand in the warm bowl more than the cold bowl and the other half vice versa.  We also had them touch the windows to feel how the cold air from outside made them feel cold too. We also had Spanish with Miss Daphne who brought in a number puzzle and gave each kiddo a number to place into its proper slot. She speaks in Spanish the entire time, so it was awesome watching how they were still able to follow her instructions.

On Thursday we cut out a bunch of paper snowflakes and pretended to have a snow storm during circle time. They had so much fun with this activity. Some of them would grab a snowflake and toss it in the air and watch it fall while others enjoyed examining each one and tearing them.

On friday we started our morning in the primary room. Our kiddos were so interested in all the cool stuff the primary class had. Some of our kiddos got to draw on paper and some played with the cars and connectors in one of the centers. In the afternoon, chef Mike came in and created a Mediterranean dish for our kiddos. Our kiddos helped by shaking the container and mixing the ingredients together. Then they all got to taste it; some enjoyed it more than others. Then we ended the day with outside dance party!

Til next week friends!
Much love,
Cherokee <3

Ah! I just realized that we had a great snow toy to share with all of Luke's friends. Maybe next time!
