Today Olive, Clara, Asher, and Wynn came to school. Theo came to join us from the toddler class, too! He was a great older role model for the pre-tots. After snack we went out on the deck and brought a box of soapy water and a bar of soap with us as a fun sensory project.

Olive and Wynn spent a lot of time playing with the soapy water and breaking down the bar of soap. We put a few toys in the box to clean them but Theo wanted all the toys out of the box. Clara joined in the splashing too, and Asher watched from the seat of his truck.

After playing with the soapy water Olive climbed up onto the playhouse by herself. Asher rode his truck around and crashed into different toys on the deck. We asked him to please slow down and gently bump into them, which he did. Wynn was very chatty this morning.

At one point Clara, Wynn, Asher and Theo were all playing together in the playhouse. Theo was demonstrating how he used his words to describe what he was doing. He pretended to sail a little boat up slide and told his friends “the boat’s coming.”

Wynn found some sticks, which gave Theo an idea. “Let’s sword fight,” he said, and lightly tapped a stick against my pen while saying, “bang, bang, bang!”  Olive thought this was hilarious and giggled a bit. Asher thought it looked fun so he joined in, too, eventually growing more interested in my pen than the sword fighting. I let him sit down and do some drawing on the notebook that I used to document their day. Clara continued to explore the playhouse and Wynn cuddled with Cate.

Asher moved along to the box of soapy water and used his stick to stir it up, which made big bubbles. Wynn followed him and grabbed a stick of his own and started to stir, too. He kept following Asher around and doing whatever he did. Looks like Wynn has found a good friend!
