Welcome to the new year tulip fams!!!
It's only been our second day back and our kiddos already seem to be getting the hang of things. We have lots of new faces joining our class for the new year. Our friends Rye, Hank and Colette all moved up from the infant class while Juliete, Matilda and Lyla are brand new to Green Sprout. Our other friends Finn, Naomi, Avey and Luke have all been doing such a great job of showing our newest friends how we do things in the tulip class. Yesterday and today we focused mainly on our routine since we have so many new friends in our class who still need to learn it. Since it was really cold outside in the morning, we began our day in the classroom with some free play. Normally, we do drop-offs outside in the morning except when the weather is too cold or rainy. After free play we all sat at the table and ate snack. One of our toddler friends mom made a comment when she saw all of our friends sitting at the table and eating snack quietly. She said, "Oh my, I can't believe they are all sitting so quietly. You would think kids this age would be all over the place." We are so proud of our little group. Shortly after, we all cleaned up and got ready for circle time. Our older friends did great showing our new friends how we all help put away all of our toys before going to circle time. During circle time we sang our "Good Morning/Hello" song where we sing each kiddos name and introduce each one as we go. Immediately following we sang our weather song and then talked about what kind of weather we have been having. We also discussed how a lot of our friends are new to school or just new to our tulip class and that we are all learning/re-learning our class routines. Thursday our Spanish teacher, Miss Daphne, came and sang some songs and had a little activity for our kiddos. She brought in some Spanish number flash cards that were paired puzzle pieces to share with our little tulips. They were all so intrigued and fascinated by Miss Daphne and really enjoyed taking the puzzle pieces she would hand them and matching it with its pair. Miss Daphne only speaks in Spanish which is super awesome because it is one of the best ways to learn a new language. Friday our chef, Mr. Mike, came in and did a cooking project with us. He showed each of our kiddos how to make guacamole using avocado, tomato and lime. First, he demonstrated how he has to cut up each fruit; our kiddos faces were in complete awe as he did this, that or they were totally dazed out, haha! Once he was finished he placed a little of each ingredient into a small bowl and gave one to each kiddo. Mags, myself, and Mike all went around the table and helped each friend squish and mix the ingredients together. They all had so much fun doing this even though a few friends didn't really care to eat it afterwards. At the end of our day we all went outside and enjoyed the nice crisp air. Have a wonderful weekend!!! Much Love, Cherokee Monday & Tuesday: Yoga with Miss Amelia or Miss Colette. Wednesday & Thursday: Spanish with Miss Daphne Friday: Cooking with Mr. Mike
