Windy Weather!!!

Hi friends!

We have been having such gorgeous weather this week! I suppose mother nature is making it up to us for last week's yucky weather :-)

This week we have been focussing on windy weather and the different types of windy weather such as tornadoes and hurricanes.

On Monday our little tulips colored on styrofoam plates. Miss Magdalen then tied string onto each plate so that we could hang them from our big tree and watch them blow in the wind. During our circle time miss Magdalen talked about how we can make our own wind using our breath. Each kiddo practiced blowing air out and feeling it with their hand.

On Tuesday we pretended to be giant tornadoes and practiced spinning around. Some of our kiddos enjoyed watching their peers spin in a circle. This was a great balancing activity for them because spinning in a circle can make you dizzy if you go too fast; I know first hand, LoL. We also practiced blowing air into our hands and creating our own wind again during circle time. In the afternoon our newest yoga teacher, Miss Vanessa, joined us and taught us a new song. The song is called "Old Mc Yogi." The song is sung to the tune of "Old McDonald" and it goes like this; "Old Mc Yogi had a Mat, ooooomiiii, ooooomiiii, oooooom. And on that mat he had a dog..." Then you would do dog pose and bark like a dog.

On Wednesday our kiddos got to experience wind being blown from a box fan. During our circle time miss Magdalen brought in a box fan and turned it up on high. Each of our tulips got to feel the wind being blown. Then we placed light weight objects in front of the fan to show our kiddos how objects can blow in the wind. When we were outside we had a community activity where everyone helped putting new sand into the sand box.

On Thursday miss Jackie showed our little tulips what a tornado looks like using two bottles taped together with water inside. She showed them how she had to spin the water in the bottle by rotating it really fast and then showed them the funnel shape the water made as it poured into the other bottle. Each of our tulips got a turn to practice rotating the bottle.

On Friday we started our morning off with some Disney tunes and sing along songs. Miss Toni also brought out some new jump ropes and we all took turns practicing jumping over the rope. Our primary Afterwards, I read "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" to some of our friends. In the afternoon, Chef Mike came in and did a cooking project with us. He showed our kiddos how to make a pizza using pita bread, marinara sauce, mozzarella (both dairy and non-dairy), basil leaves and black olives. My favorite part was watching their facial expressions as they tasted each ingredient.

We ended our day enjoying the beautiful weather outside and dance party!!!
