Letter Dd and Kwanza

Monday:  Lizzie was out today, Toni subbed for her.  All three groups went outside this morning to do some running exercises. 

Tuesday:  During small group time all three groups were introduced to the letter of the week, Dd.  Dom’s group read the Dd book and wrote down words beginning with Dd.  Lizzie’s group brainstormed words beginning with Dd and discovered the objects in the letter box.  Kinder Blossom went on a Dd hunt around the school for their Dd box.

Wednesday:  Today was Nina’s (from the Pre-Tot rooms) 2nd birthday.  Her Mom and Dad brought in a special performer for the entire community to enjoy.  We all gathered in the backyard to sing, dance and perform with her.  The kiddos absolutely loved all of her songs!  We also enjoyed face paint that Jasper brought in.  Thanks Jasper!

Thursday:  This morning we enjoyed reading library books, water coloring, and playing with the dolls and the doll house for the letter Dd.  This afternoon we enjoyed Chinese.  During Chinese we began learning parts of the face by each taking turns putting pieces on a snow man!  The kiddos loved making the snowmen.

Friday:   This morning we had a blast dancing to Christmas songs outside for dance party Friday.  We also harvested out garden for Kwanza and made hats in celebration of the upcoming holiday.  This afternoon we played with dominos, dice, the dollhouse and dolls.

Holidays Around the World - Hanukkah

Monday: Most friends were so excited to come back to school after a long, relaxing break! We shared stories of were we went for thanksgiving and all the awesome people we saw!
Group A: Introduction to letter "Nn"; we brainstormed words and wrote them on the dry erase board, sounding each of our names out as well trying to figure out if we had a Nn in our name or not, some friends did, and some friends did not! A few of our favorite N words were "Noah", "No", "Next", "Nature", and "Naomi". 
Group B: Ms Lizzie also introduced letter N, they also went through their letter Nn box, and wrote down their group of letter Nn words! 
Kinder Blossom: 
After nap, we began our discussion of December, and Winter Holidays! For this week, we started with Hanukkah! Ben and Asher let us know that they are some of our fellow friends who celebrate Hanukkah at home! Arielle showed us the art project she set up, before we broke up into snack and centers. Around 4:00 we had a visitor come, Ms Neely, who taught a spanish class to pre tots, toddlers, and primary friends! She started with the colors in spanish, which many friends remembered! 
Tuesday: 
Group A: Kai and Jackson worked on the puzzle matching work, that involves puzzle pieces and their matching animals. while Tula worked on the the buttoning frame, and Genevieve and Kian worked on the wooden math puzzle.
Group B: They all worked on decorating their Night sky, using glue to put on their stars and moons!
After nap, Ms Vanessa visited the primary room for some free style yoga, stretches and breathing. using a breathing ball they each went around and had a turn. it was very Peaceful :)
Wednesday: Show N Tell!
Group A: This week for show n tell, we focused on the letter Nn, We started with Tula who brought in and wore her pig Nose! Kian brought in a Net and bugs that he showed his friends how to use. Noah showed us his Dalmatian Monster Truck, Julia showed us her special blanket, and Genevieve showed her Lovies, Giraffe and Racoon! Kai brought out his Harmonica and even played a little music for us, while Jackson showed everyone his Number book, and we read and counted out loud! I showed my special Necklace.   
Group B and Kinder Blossom also used group time to explore what everyone brought for show N tell.
Thursday: Group A; today we explored Nature jars, filled with pecans, sticks, leaves, and sand and other items we can find outside or in our backyard! We then went out on a Nature walk to explore and find our own Natural objects :) it was a blast, and everyone found something special!
Group B: together, they worked at the table, making bird Nests. They used yarn for the nest, and construction paper and googly eyes!
Kinder Blossom: Ms Arielle and friends worked on their letters, then played a fun game of Number bingo! Listening intently, and focusing on what number Arielle calls! It was alot of fun!
Friday;
Today we welcomed a new friend, Rose! Friends helped show her around the different centers, group areas, and snack/lunch area.

We finished out our Hanukkah week with some art for the holiday, and a yummy cooking project, Challah bread with cheese or sunbutter! The Sprouts very much enjoyed it!

Letter Gg, Asher's 4th Birthday, Visit from AFD

Monday:  This morning during drop offs our early arrivers helped Dom make weather jars for the classroom.  They made a snow jar, a sunny jar, a rain jar, and a cloudy jar.  After circle time we broke up into groups and all 3 groups were still exploring the new Montessori works we out last week.  During small group time all 3 groups were introduced to the letter of the week, Gg.  Group A read the G Book and wrote down words beginning with Gg.  Group B brainstormed words beginning with Gg and discovered what items were in the Gg box.  We then made galaxies using glue, and glitter.  They all turned out awesome.  Kinder Blossom went on a Gg hunt around the school for items to put in their Gg box.  This afternoon we enjoyed Centers and and Art project of coloring coffee filters with markers then spraying them with water to create a stained glass affect.

Tuesday:  Group A made grapes in the vine using purple paint. Group B practiced writing their names and also made grapes using purple paint and corks, stamping the corks on paper to create their grapes.  Kinder Blossom practiced writing the letter Gg.  This afternoon Miss Ann joined us for yoga because Miss Vanessa was sick.  We sang songs and played ‘Ring around the Yogi’.  We also practiced Yoga poses using a partner.  All the Sunflower’s really love practicing their poses a partner. 

Wednesday:  Today is Asher’s 4th birthday! Happy birthday, Ashy!  This morning all groups enjoyed Show and Tell.  Group A also made sensory bags using hair gel, food coloring, and glitter.  Group B made gum ball machines using felt circle but outs for the gum balls.  This afternoon after nap we enjoyed playing with our Show and Tell items.  We then gathered at the table for a birthday celebration for Asher.  We ate Vegan cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday.  He then requested to play on the deck to continue the celebration.

Thursday:  During small group time Group A discussed the items in their letter box.  Group B practiced writing the letter Gg.  We also made gumball machines!  They turned out super cute and are hanging on top of their hooks where their backpacks live.  Kinder Blossom played a math bingo game.  This afternoon we decorated popsicle sticks with beads to make frames.  We also enjoyed Chinese class.

Friday:  This fabulous Friday afternoon we had some very special visitors from the Austin Fire Department come with their truck for a presentation.  The entire Sprout’s sat in the backyard to ask a fire fighter questions, we then took turns getting in the fire truck!  The Sprout’s LOVED their special visitors.  We were also very excited to present the firefighters with flowers we made them last week!

Letter B

MONDAY:  We started Monday, greeting friends and parents as they arrived. Miss Arielle arrived, and we cleaned up and got set for circle time. Went around the circle and everyone had a chance to give a quick few sentences about their weekend! lots of birthday parties, fun with mom, dad, and siblings, and more! We broke up into Group for Montessori/group work.
Group A: We worked on the newest letter of the week, Bb! brainstormed words, names, and objects that start with the letter, while looking around the classroom pointing certain things out! 
Group B:  Worked on letter B, brainstorming words and watching videos of things that start with Bb! They also went through their Letter B box, which included blocks, and other Bb objects.
Kinder Blossom: Started their group with letter Bb as well! 



TUESDAY: Today we had a special guest join us, it was Ivy! everyone was so excited she came to spend the day with us, and was excited to show off their primary classroom!
Group A:  Noah worked with the train tracks, building and rebuilding, making new pathways.  While Genevieve explored the sand paper numbers, Kian worked on a botany puzzle, and Jackson worked with the nuts and bolts, screwing on the nuts.
Group B: They practiced working with the Big and Small Buttoning frames, taking turns practicing to button and unbutton. They then made their way to the table to create a "Blueberry Field", using blue, white, and green paint!
Kinder Blossom: They explored their letter Bb box, adding words to the list as they thought of them!
After nap, Ms Vanessa came for some Tuesday yoga! We practiced Warrior 1 pose, and the breathing ball! It went around the circle, and everyone had a chance to breathe in (open) and breathe out (close) which was very exciting for most! We said our goodbyes to Vanessa, and made our way outside!
WEDNESDAY: SHOW N TELL!!
Group A: We started with some Montessori work time before bringing out show N tells, in lieu of the letter B week, friends brought show N tell items that started with Bb. Kian brought in his very special Batman lego toy, Kai brought in his humpBack whale, Jackson brought in the Berenstains B book, and a Bell that was given to him by some very important people! Genevieve used Blocks for her show N tell, while Tula brought in her lovey, Bunny Bear :) Noah brought in a "sea truck", and Ancel brought in a tape measure from home.
Group B: Gathered in their area for show N tell, Asher showed off Blocks for his Show N Tell, while Cetta showed off her Blankets, Wren brought a Book
Kinder Blossom: Ben brought a Frozen puzzle, while addie brought in a bucket of different shaped beads, Jasper showed off his Bag!
After nap, We decided to get our shows on, and go out somewhat early to check on the Gardens and enjoy the weather!
THURSDAY:
Group A: we worked on Montessori works, in Group we went back over our letter Bb words and box.
Group B:
Teo worked with the nuts and bolts, screwing and unscrewing the pieces of wood together. Asher worked with the triangle, fitting pieces together, Paislie worked with the blue shapes.
Kinder Blossom:It was a great day for some math, and Miss Arielle used group time to work on some math, using money! everyone was very focused and interested! :)

After nap, Miss Arielle set up an afternoon art project, using toilet paper rolls, and making different art works by dipping them in paint.
FRIDAY:
 We started inside, because it was a little chilly outside, but as soon as it got a little warm, we finished up snack and went out! We had our friday dance party, and worked on our letter to the Fire Fighters who are coming to visit as a letter of Thanks!
After nap, we all sat for friday cooking project, We made peanut Butter and Berry jam sandwiches on Bread. Each friend got their own plastic knife to spread their jam and peanut butter, it was a big hit!

Happy 3rd Birthday to Kai, Kian and Tula!

Monday:  This morning each group was introduced to the letter of the week, Zz.  Group A practiced zipping using one of our Practical Life Montessori lessons, then brainstormed words beginning with the letter Zz.  Group B was introduced to the items in their letter box, also spent time brainstorming words beginning with the letter Zz, then practiced writing their names.  Kinder Blossom went on a hunt for items around the school that begin with Zz to put in their letter box.  This afternoon we made birthday cards for our friends who have birthdays this week; Kai, Kian and Tula will all be turning 3 this week! We then gathered in our circle time area for Musical Monday’s.  We had a special guest, Elise come in to play her Cello.  The Sunflowers all sat very quietly and listened to her play us many different songs.  Towards the end we all stomped our feet to keep the rhythm as she played.  She showed us the difference in sound between her using just her fingers to play and when she used her bow.

Tuesday:  Today is Kai’s 3rd birthday!  Happy birthday, Kai!  Group A played a game using zoo animals.  Group B painted pictures of animals they have seen at the zoo.  Kinder Blossom practiced writing the letter Zz.  This rainy afternoon we enjoyed playing in centers, yoga with Miss Vanessa, and a special birthday celebration for Kai.  We sang Happy Birthday and ate hummus and crackers he brought from home.  


Wednesday: Today is Kian’s 3rd birthday!  Happy Birthday, Kian!! This rainy morning we worked inside all morning.  While we waiting for all of our friends to arrive to school we painted with water colors, ate snack, worked on puzzles, and listened to Miss Lizzie read us books.  During Montessori work time we had many friends aim their focus on puzzles.  We then broke up into small groups and listened to our friends explain what they brought for Show and Tell.  Genevieve brought zoo animals, Teo brought a zoo truck,  many friends brought zebras, Paislie brought a zester with an orange!  During lunch Miss Lizzie demonstrated how to use a zester and showed all the Sunflowers what the orange looked like after she used zester, she also showed the kiddos the thin pieces of orange.  Thanks Paislie!  This afternoon after nap we played with our Show and Tells.  We also gathered at the tables to celebrate Kian’s birthday! We ate cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday.  We then played in the Dramatic play and Construction center for the remaining of the afternoon.

Thursday:  This morning we jumped into Montessori work right away.  Teo and Asher foscued their attention to the Continent puzzles while Wren and Paislie read a Wildlife Book together discussing all the different plants, animals, and insects they saw in the book.  Ben, Miya and Addie worked together to build different structures using the Brown Stairs and the Pink Tower together.  They showed great ability to use cause and effect and teamwork to complete each structure.  During small group time Group A made zig zag tracks to roll cars and trains down.  This afternoon we enjoyed Chinese.  All the Sunflowers are very focused and eager to learn new songs in Chinese.  They have caught on very quickly to the songs Mrs. Sughi has already taught them. 

Friday:  Dom and I stepped into the baby room to teach today due to family emergencies.  Mr. Logan stepped in the Primary room to teach with Miss Arielle.  All the classes had outside drop offs this morning and began the day with a community dance party.  Miss Toni came outside for a presentation of our Community Project this week.  The Toddler class wanted to make flowers for the Austin fire department’s visit we are having this month.

Happy Halloween! (27-31)

MONDAY:
We started our week, going straight into montessori/group work time!
Group A- I introduced the letter Tt, as we brainstormed words that start with letter Tt. and writing them down on the board. Our favorites were Tula, Tiger, and Tree!
Group B - Brainstormed T words as well, while also making some Tiny Triangle Art, choosing from a variety of sizes and gluing them onto paper.
Kinder Blossom - they brought out the moveable alphabet, spelling words that being with T, and also working together to spell out HAPPY HALLOWEEN. They then went to the playground and practiced writing letter Tt in shaving cream, which is great sensory exploration!
After nap, we gathered for our family meeting, while Ms lizzie explained the art activity for the afternoon! Letter Tt, tire tracks! Friends would take a car, dip it in paint, and roll the tires on the paper! it was a big hit!
TUESDAY: Today started with Towel folding during Montessori time, practicing our fine motor skills, we also practiced our writing with some letter Tt and flour exploration during Montessori time. Friends would trace the letter with two fingers, then repeat the motion in the flour exposing different colors in the background that formed the letter Tt. Once we moved into group time, we went through our letter Tt box, and then worked on Toilet paper roll art, dipping the rolls in paint and making designs on paper.
Group B - explored their letter Tt box, then went to the deck and enjoyed a fun Tea party!

After nap, Ms Vanessa joined us on the deck for yoga in the beautiful weather! She incorporated alot of Halloween related words and noises into our practice today which really got the sprouts involved and focused! it was a great day!
WEDNESDAY: SHOW N TELL DAY!
We started our Wednesday with a little exercise outdoors, running laps around the dome and playscape to get out any extra energy we might have before heading off to montessori and group time!
Group A: Kai explored the nuts and bolts work, screwing and unscrewing, practicing his fine motor skills,  Kian worked with the Tree puzzle, while Ancel explored the magnets, he really enjoyed putting them positive to negative, and negative to negative, and explored the "resisitance".  We then brought out our Show N Tells, with majority of friends bringing items that start with letter Tt, telescope, tiger, tea, tractor, and much more! It was a success!
Group B: explored their show N tell, before heading outside to enjoy the wonderful morning.
After nap, we decorated a thank you card for Miss Daphne! as this was her last day at GS, we had a great last Spanish class, closing out the Transportation Lesson!
THURSDAY:
Group A - We went through our montessori work time smoothly, and during group time, we worked on decoration our Trees, friends glued their tree to paper, then freestyled painted with some watercolors. Some friends opted not to paint their entire tree, while some friends wanted to make sure to fill in all the white parts!
Group B - went through their letter Tt box and came across the Texas Flag, which prompted some Flag Art, each friend painted their own flag, and Ms Lizzie added stars to complete them!
Kinder Blossom - Took a pumpkin outside, and Ms arielle began to carve the pumpkin while friends watched, exploring the slimy pumpkin seeds! 
After nap, We all gathered around the carpet for chinese. We started with counting out loud, then went through the colors! Everyone loved it, and thanked Ms Sui Gi as she left!
FRIDAY:
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

We had a fun filled Friday, practicing our Trick R Treating skills, with the help of all of our awesome and generous parents, sending fun treats and toy.  Each friend went to a teacher outside, said Trick R treat, Please, and they received a treat! They all felt very proud practicing their new skill!

After nap, Ms Arielle put some Halloween festive art supplies, a card for Ms Jodies birthday and puzzles to work on!
Before we ending the day, we had a great cooking project.
We made "pumpkin tostadas", which involved a flat chip, black beans, and cheese.

Letter Ss (10/20-25)

Monday:  This morning during our circle time we gathered at the tables to have presentations on our Practical Life Montessori shelf.  The guides have color coded each work so the kiddos know which work they are able to use.  The Sunflower’s we very eager to start Montessori work time!  During this time the Practical Life shelf was empty as all the kiddos used this time to start mastering these new works.  When we broke up into small groups, all three groups were introduced to the letter of the week Ss.  All three groups brainstormed words beginning with the letter Ss.  Kinder Blossom went on a Scavenger hunt around the school to find objects to put in their letter box.  This afternoon we painted suns and enjoyed free play in centers.

Tuesday:  This morning we enjoyed water coloring, puzzles, snack, and Play-Doh while all of our friends arrived to school.  We then gathered on the carpet for circle time and to listen to two stories Miss Lizzie read.  During our small group time, group A enjoyed an art project making striped snakes.  Group B used glue and colored sand to make sand art, Kinder Blossom practiced writing the letter Ss in their notebooks.  This afternoon we enjoyed yoga with Miss Ann because Miss Vanessa is out of town.  We also made suns using yellow paint and plates. 

 
Wednesday:  This morning during Montessori work time the Sunflowers continued to explore the new Practical Life works we gave presentations on earlier this week.

Group B made skeletons using Q-tips, glue and black paper.  We then made spider webs.  We put our orange paper in a container, put black paint in the middle of the paper, then marbles on top of the black paint.  We then shook the container to move the marbles and black paint on the paper.  The kiddos absolutely loved this art project!  Kinder Blossom earned a party today because they earned 10 stickers on their ‘Voice Check’ chart.  For their party they went out to the deck to enjoy some vegan ice cream.  All three groups did Show and Tell.  Dom Dom brought in her dog Soy Bean!  We loved saying hi to him in our classroom.  This afternoon we enjoyed playing with our Show and Tells, and Spanish with Miss Daphne. 

Thursday:  During small group time this morning Group A out stickers on a cut out of the letter S.  Group B practiced writing the letter Ss.  They also painting sticks we are going to make a mobile out of.  Kinder Blossom was given a presentation by Miss Ashley on a new Montessori work.  They also practiced writing the letter Ss in their notebooks.  This afternoon we had an absolute blast during Chinese class!During Chinese we made a poster of the numbers 1-12 to hang in our circle time area to practice every day.  After Chinese we spent time making a birthday poster for Miss Ashley’s birthday celebration tomorrow.

Friday:  We spent the morning in the Toddler room celebrating Miss Ashley’s birthday!  Miss Jodie decorated the room with streamers; they kiddos loved hanging out with Miss Ashley this morning.  We then came back into the Primary room for group snack then headed outside to continue the celebration with our Friday dance party!  We also painted rocks from our garden.  We are going to have a rock for each letter in the alphabet.  Today we worked on the letter A.  We painted all the kiddos names on the rock that begin with A.  This afternoon we enjoyed a cooking project with Miss Liz, we rolled our own sushi!!  The kiddos each had their own rolling mat, rice and seaweed.  The Sunflowers absolutely LOVED this cooking project.

We had an absolute blast this week learning about the letter Ss!  We hope everyone has a very relaxing weekend.  We will see you Monday, ready to jump into the letter Tt!

Pumpkins, Popcorn, and Pizza Party!!! (10/15-19)

MONDAY: 

HOLIDAY!!!

TUESDAY:  
Starting the beginning of the week on a Tuesday was a special treat, and all the friends were excited to tell us all about their long weekend!
Group A started out with montessori work; Jackson working on his writing skills, Kian worked on the leaf and frog puzzle, while Tula worked with spooning rice. 
Group B started with montessori as well, Wren worked with the velcro frame, Paislie worked with the shape puzzle whole other friends picked and worked on their works before breaking up for Group time. Kinder Blossom worked on writing lessons, and Montessori Puzzles! Before heading outside, we got to explore Teo's Planetarium, in which it named constellations, and the planets.
After nap, Miss Vanessa joined class for some yoga and relaxation before we headed outside for the afternoon!

WEDNESDAY:
Today, each group, had a shorter Montessori work time, and instead went into group time a little earlier than usual.  On Wednesday, its Show N tell, so each friend got their show N tells, then came to the carpet! Noah brought in a Picture, Kian brought in his Pooh bear, a penguin, and  Tula brought her Panda stuffed animal and a Pumpkin, Kai brought his Pony, and Genevieve shared her picture as well! Jackson brought a cool writing board, which he showed everyone how to use!
Group B and Kinder Blossom also had their show N tell during group time, showing lots of their Letter P objects, some which were stuffed animals, pillows, pictures, and many more!
After nap, we decorated some Bats and hung them up, before cleaning and getting ready for a short Spanish class (Ms Daphne was unable to make it ), so we practiced our Spanish before marching outside!

THURSDAY:
Ancel started work time with the shoe and lacing, while Kai worked with the tweezers and cotton balls. During group time, Group 1 went to the deck to decorate Pumpkins, with orange or Purple sand, applying their own glue and sand! Group 2 worked on their Pumpkin Patch! Making Pumpkins with their thumb Prints, then adding green for the vines!
Kinder Blossom went on a Trash Hunt and did some exercises out in the parking lot, running back and forth, loving every moment!

After nap, we got ready for Chinese, which everyone absolutely loves!! we gathered around, while Ms Sui Gii brought out her boards and started class. We went through our  numbers, before she brought out and introduced colors! Everyone repeated her words after she would say it, so excited as she picked up the pace, saying them quicker each time! She closed out class with an introduction to animals, and their translation! It was a huge success!!
FRIDAY:

This friday started with our infamous dance parties, then the whole community took turns Painting Pumpkins outside! It was such a beautiful morning, and all my friends really enjoyed doing their art outdoors!

After nap, we had some time to explore the construction area, before getting ready for our Pizza Party!! Everyone sat, and got a piece of wax paper, I showed my friends how Ms Dom would make her pizza, we then went around and passed out some wheat bread (pizza crust), asked if they would like marinara sauce or not, then asked if they wanted dairy or vegan cheese! Everyone loved making their own pizzas, then eating them! They felt very proud, and gave the pizza party a big THUMBS UP!!
