11/02/12 Great way to Spend a Friday

On Friday we still had some residual Halloween spirit left. Everyone continued to play with the tiny pumpkins we had on the playground. The newest goal was to collect them all in one basket, even if that meant picking them up after every step because the basket was too full. We headed in to have snack and still had more stories to tell about our Halloween experiences and the great candy everyone got. Following snack we had circle time and played a few games to release some energy. We had a very silly circle time, when we were done with our activities Tristan took a few minutes to try and lift nicks leg up off the ground. After succeeding, circle time turned into a bounce party on top of nick.
After everyone regained their composure we opened up the room for work time and everyone scattered to their favorite area of the moment. Tristan and Miya went straight to art. Tristan was adamant about making a picture for mommy, while Miya wanted to paint exactly what Leina had just finished. Paige wanted to learn how to hang up her cloths so she took some time practicing putting things onto hangers. Rhys spent a good amount of time on a puzzle that lets you practice buttons, snaps, zippers, and laces, on a bear, while he managed to get the snap ok he lost interest in the the other parts and just fixated on the bear itself.
After some fun work we went outside for a little play. Again everyone jumped back into the Halloween mindset of ghosts and witches.
Coming in to have lunch, we put our shoes on the rack and washed our hands. Lunch is always a fun time because everyone likes to converse and some of the conversations are out of this world when a young person interacts with nine other peers. Once most of our friends where done with lunch Tristan, our nap mat helper, assisted with putting out nap mats. Once he finished his job we all head to he library for story time. We went a little late for lunch and story time so everyone got into their mats a little later than normal which meant a later wake up for most of our friends.
However, once everyone was up we rolled up our mats and headed to the big table for a demonstration of our food project. Instead of having a regular snack all of our friends made taco bunnies instead. The taco bunny is a piece of lettuce with almond butter smeared on it topped with shredded apples, carrots and raisins. They were a big hit and made for a good time watching everyone make theirs in a different way. When everyone was finished with their bunnies miss Jackie came over and we had a music session. Jackie's Friday music sessions have two parts to them, the first is her singing, and the second is an interactive part. For today's interactive session she brought crystal glasses and filled them with water, rubbing the rim produced different sounds with different levels of water. We let our friends try to rub the rim which proved to be rather difficult, however all our friends seemed quite happy watching Jackie and nick make the sounds for them.
After the music session it was time to head outside and conclude our day.
