12/10 Monday Madness

12/11/2012

Monday started off with a bunch of emotions. Even though everyone had winter clothe, not many of our friends seemed to enjoy being outside this morning. With a unanimous consensus, everyone was inside before nine o'clock. Our friends occupied their time with making beaded necklaces or "reading" books on the couch during our normal drop off time. Maya and Tristan worked on making necklaces and even showed other friends like Miya how to make them.
We had a long snack because no one seemed to get full today, so we had a few extra rounds of fruit and cereal. We started to get ready for show and tell but everyone seemed to have a little too much energy to sit down for too long so we tried going outside again.
Everyone was much happier to be outside this time around and played tag nonstop until we had to go in for some class work and show and tell.
We drew pictures of what winter meant to us and then had time for half of our class to do show and tell.
Maya brought a really neat book of her and her family with pictures from a vacation they took.
Tristan showed everyone a cowboy riding a horse just like the movie toy story, but he declined to pass it around.
Leina joined our class in the middle of show and tell and we even had a special guest, Leina's mom, sit down with us for a bit.
We only got to half the class before lunch time came, so we promised everyone they would get a turn after nap.
Everyone was very tired and was out almost as soon as the lights went out.
After a healthy snack of mixed veggies we finished show and tell then did some dramatic play, something we haven't done in class for quite a while.
There were a few friends who still wanted to do art like maya, who felt like making jellyfish today. Everyone else played in our practical life area, Rhys was captivated by the different coins in the money box and his favorites were the pennies and pents, which had the lest value but did not seem to matter for Rhys.
With the weather a bit warmer we bundled up and went outside for outdoor exploration. Once outside all the children could release the energy they had to bottle up for most of the day. We played some running games like red light green light and even a little soccer.
