A Birthday Surprise!

Today here in the Primary class we had a day full of new movements, songs and thoughts of acting as if we were different animals.  This week the class have been playing games outside acting as if they were different animals in a family.  We decided we should take this opportunity to discuss many different animals, what kind of habitats they live in and how they take care of themselves. When we were outside this morning we played a game; Miss Lizzie or Mr. Nick would say an animals and the kiddos would act as if they were the animal.  Inside during snack we played another game to learn where the animals lived.  Each child would say "I'm think of an animal that lives in..." then the other kiddos would guess what animal they could think of that lived in that specific habitat.  Before nap time Mr. Nick read a story entitled Mr. Mallard and his Ducklings.  This story was about a family of ducks who lived in the city and were on a hunt to find the perfect place for the family to live.  Once we woke up from nap and had snack it was already time for Spanish with Mrs. Leona!  We had a surprise when Mrs. Leona and her daughter Alma arrived, it was Alma's birthday! During Spanish we learned new songs, one  being Happy Birthday!  We also learned songs about pinatas, and a song we used scarves to dance with many different parts of our body.  Once we sang our new songs we gathered at the table to enjoy cupcakes with Alma for her birthday! What a great surprise! We ended our day in the classroom with our "Daily Notes' to recap what our favorite activity we enjoyed today!
