A Day of Music, Dance, & Art !

What a fantastically fun Friday morning we had at the Sprout today. It was a true community party starting bright and early at 8 am! We dedicated our first hour this morning to giving our new indoor plants "new homes" with "new fresh food" in them. Friends all helped find cups, shovels, and other means to dig and pour potting soil from one big bad to about 15 different plant pots. We then helped move our plants into these pots. It was so amazing to see the amount of love and team work that went into this project! Lenia and Maya were in charge of taking the plants onto the other side of the fence once they were completely re-homed and at the very end of our job we gathered around the new collection of plants to give them our love and encouragement to grow!! We then went got in line for a count off followed by a very quiet walk into our classroom! Great way to respect the sleeping babies.

At snack we went over our calendar and sung the "days of the week song" with each of our favorite voices! We like to whisper it once then use our monster voices for one round and usually we end it with our super duper loud voices! Friends were able to tell me what makes Fridays at Green Sprout so special and so we planned our day to include a community dance circle, a community art project, and a cooking project! We did just all of those things! After snack we took a bathroom break then put on our shoes to head right back out side as we knew Jackie G would be waiting for us with her Guitar! We like to have music circle on the "GS hill" as we will lay out a blanket or in the grass! Today's collection of songs were totally improvised by Toni and Jackie and based on the amount of dancing and laughing I would say we did an excellent job!
We came up with a remix to Old McDonald and we changed the chorus to Old Mc Toni had a school and at that school there was a ________. We filled in the blank with teacher's names and came up with a funny line to describe that teacher! The kids thought it was absolutely hilarious. After music circle broke apart we then had a good 30 minutes to work on this giant banner we set up on the school wall outside. The banner read: Peace Love GS and friends used crayons, markers, and chalk to give it more color and character! They all really enjoyed having such a large canvas to work on! After spending some time this friends discovered the run on/off tattoos we brought out and friends quickly got in a line to take a turn picking our tattoos they wanted on their bodies! We used our counting skills to count to 10 which would let friends knows their tattoo was ready!

The morning hours flew right by us and by the time we knew it was lunch time! We came in to wash up then friends got to choose where they would eat lunch. The class split right in half between the big table and deck!

We then got nice and snuggled up for nap time. After nap friends had some quiet reading time them worked on some drawing at the table! We then got prepped for our cooking project! We made pizza's once again as they have been a hit! We had some left over ingredients so it was a win win!
