Friday was the first day the kids got to see our newly remodeled room and everyone at Greensprout was eager to see how they reacted to the new set up. Following an energetic outside drop off we headed inside to see what was new to the room. We started with a circle time in a new location, the corner by the blackboard, and asked everyone what was different around the room. Little dragon was the first thing they noticed, he moved halfway across the room and was now at eye level with our Greensprout friends so they can see him better. Second they noticed the couch had been moved to our practical life area by the front door. So that everyone could get a feel for our classroom we took a quick tour of the different sections and talked about the differences from the previous layout. The tour was not very interesting to them because everyone was eager to experience it for themselves. Our construction area was a hit with Rhys and Tristan, Rhys built a structure taller than he is with new giant building blocks. Maya, Leina, and Colette spent most of their time in the dramatic play/practical life area. They played house and then found Cassandra's money box and played store with the various coins. The coins caught Ryhs's attention and he quickly migrated to the practical life area. He sat content sorting the coins by sheen.
Just to get a little energy out we headed for the playground for fifteen minutes before lunch and the high energy and spirits of the morning carried through lunch time. It was such a nice day it was suggested to have lunch outside on the deck. With plenty of cloud cover and a perfect temperature we raised the awning and had a picnic. Waking up we had snack and explored our room some more, however since it is Friday we had Jackie come in at 3:30 and perform some songs with her interactive portion being tambourine noisemaker construction. Our friends filled a paper plate with rice and taped another one on top of it sealing rice in the middle. Jackie's music session marked the end of our time inside this week, so we left our new classroom for the backyard to end the week at Greensprout.
