A Picture Perfect Wednesday

I hope everyone’s day has been as wonderful as ours has in the Primary Room! This morning everyone had a delightful time using our new hula hoops in a different way!  The kiddos set them up in a row to hope skip and jump over each circle!  Colette and Zoey came up with this game on Monday and decided they wanted to share their new game with their friends!  For snack we had watermelon, Miya, Leina, and Maya saved their watermelon seeds to use as art materials today! What a great idea!! During snack we continued to discuss our food pyramid and the different categories that make up the food pyramid.   Once we all gobbled up our watermelon we gathered on the carpet for circle time.  During circle time we discussed some very exciting news one of our friends had to share! Our friend Maya told us she has a new baby sister!! HOW EXCITING!! Our friend Dax also wanted to share that he is going to have a new baby sister very soon as well!  We also talked about all the ways we take care of our bodies.  Our friends told us that we need to exercise, eat well, and get lots of sleep so our mind and bodies can grow big and strong!  Our little ones are so smart!! For our art activity this morning we all made a collage!  We used magazines to cut out pictures of people we saw doing what keeps us healthy!  Everyone did a fantastic job finding pictures of healthy food, people exercising, and sleeping!  Some of our friends even found pictures of vitamins and band-aides because we need those to keep our bodies healthy also! Miya told all of our friends how she loved to eat her gummy vitamins! When we found our pictures we cut them out (always practicing scissor safety!) and glued them on our paper.  Upon completing the beautiful colleges Lizzie and Nick asked each kiddo why they cut out the pictures they did.  All of our friends told us amazing reasons why they chose the pictures they did, Lizzie and Nick then wrote what each kiddo told us on their collages. During lunch the kiddos were admiring the amazing work they did yesterday making their food pyramid!  We hung the food pyramid by the table so while we eat we can discuss what we are eating and where it fits in on the pyramid!  Everyone is really starting to understand the different groups and what types of food belong in them!  Miss Lizzie brought her camera today to take pictures of everyone to hang up around the classroom! After our long naps everyone’s body felt so great and had tons of energy so we played a game of duck, duck goose to get out some of our extra energy!   Because it’s Wednesday we were graced with Mrs. Leona and Alma’s presence for Spanish.  YAY!  All the kiddos know all the songs so well and are teaching Miss Lizzie how to sing and dance to all the songs!  The kiddos taught Miss Lizzie songs about piñata’s, swimming, and fireworks!!

Much Love, Lizzie and Nick
