We had another fabulous day in the Shining Star Room! We had two visitors again today, Jasper and Joey joined us from the toddler room.  We started this morning in the Primary room, and then headed outside for a short time to run around and release some energy. Leina practiced balancing on the oute lined area of the playscape while Joey and Jasper chased Teddy and Soy around. Miss Toni then brought out a lego table Maya's family donated to Green Sprout.  Jasper, Leina, Zoey, and JOey had a great time building with the legos.  Leina and Zoey decided to use one color of the table and matching blocks to fill their area. When we lined up to come inside for snack all the kiddos quickly formed a line, and reminded our new friends in the Shining Star room that we take off our shoes and hang our jackets on the coat rack.  Leina, Colette, Paige and Zoey were more than eager to help the boys hang up their jackets.

Once we finished snack we all gathered on the carpet for circle time.  During circle time we chatted about the weather, Colette reminded us that in the Arctic it feels like winter all year round!  We then continued about Hanukkah.  Leina was very informative and told us that Hanukkah lasts for 8 days, and each day during this time you light a candle on a Menorah.  Paige and Zoey then told Jasper and Joey we made our own Menorah’s.  Joey quickly responded and informed them he and Jasper also made Menorahs!

We then directed our attention to center time.  The girls gave Joey and Jasper a tour of all the fun activities, games, and puzzles they could explore.  Jasper immediately wanted to explore a shape puzzle. He did a great job identifying the colors and shapes he saw in the puzzle!  Colette constructed a building in the building center, carefully balancing each block to make sure her tower didn't fall. Joey found our bears that he could dress in different outfits.  Leina, Paige and Zoey came to the big carpet to work on a giant space puzzle.  They all worked together to well to assemble this huge puzzle.  Jasper and Joey then discovered our Color Counting game.  They helped each other so well to find which colored tile to put in the box.  Once they completed this activity they cleaned up very well and directed their attention to the puzzle the girls were working on.  Colette moved her attention to the bears puzzle, once she assembled each bear she then realized the bowl of the pieces she used looked magnified her creation! We all cleaned up the room, put on our jackets and shoes and headed outside for a quick playtime before lunch.

While outside Jasper and Miss Lizzie played baseball.  Jasper loves to throw the ball himself and hit it with the bat.  He sure can hit the ball far!  Joey used his time to continue his building with the legos.  Leina, Colette, Zoey, and Paige used their time to drive to the store and buy ingredients for a pie and cake they are going to make for the holidays.

Everyone had such a great nap today, Jasper and Paige didnt want to wake up, they were so cozy.  While we waited for our friends to wake up Joey, Leina, Zoey, and Colette painted pictures of a Winter's night.  They really loved painting a picture of the night sky!  Lenia painted a "night rainbow", shooting stars, and the moon.  Joey painted the moon and shooting stars.  Zoey and Colette not only painted the night sky, they painted the planets; Colette even painted footprints of aliens walking on the planets!  Paige and Jasper woke up, we all washed up for afternoon snack and got ready to paint again.  Each kiddo painted a Star of David to hang in our classroom!  While the kiddos were painting Miss Lizzie explained the Star of David is the Jewish star, and is a symbol on the Israeli flag.  We all finished painting we washed our hands and headed back outside for afternoon pick up.  Miss Toni surprised us on the playground!  We all we super excited to see her, sing songs, and dance!  What a great end to an already fabulous day!

Stay warm!  We will see you tomorrow! :)
