MONDAY: PRESIDENTS DAY!!

TUESDAY:
Today in Group A, I introduced the Letter Ss, we practiced tracing with our fingers on the sand paper letters, then writing in our notebooks, we explored Teo's cool Planet Solar System, while Lizzie's Group worked on the Letter Zz, naming words that start with the Letter, and spelling them on a dry erase board! They always worked in their journals, practicing their writing.

WEDNESDAY:
Group A had a very successful outdoor work time. We first talked about Scissors, and Scissor Safety, passing the Scissors around, handing them to our friends the Safe way. Then 3 at a time, they practiced with a tray, Small Scraps of Paper, and Scissors. Focusing on their fine motor grip and learning to control where they cut the paper. While another 3 friends worked with SAND and glue. I helped draw a letter Ss on their construction paper with glue, while they Sprinkled Sand onto the glue. They lifted it up, Shook off the Sand and we hung them inside to dry!

THURSDAY:
HAT DAY for Ms Arielles Birthday! Almost all my friends came with hats from home, fire fighter hat, conductor hats, sombreros, and more were sported during our Birthday Dance Party! We then read "Hats for Sale" which suited the morning nicely.
Group A worked at the picnic table, using wine corks to make Stamps, and Stickers to fill in their letter S!

We decided to stay outside, since the weather was so great, and brought out some Soft bowling pins and a Small bowling ball. Jackie and I set up on the hill, while friends found a Seat, ready to watch. A few of our Primary friends started it off, focusing on the ball, and being so proud when knocking down the pins!
FRIDAY:

Today we had a lovely morning picnic and family meeting outside during dance party! Ms Toni explained to everyone our goal for the morning was to put color on everything on the playground!!! Each friend got a small cup with paint, and got to choose where they would be marking their spot at Green Sprout :) many friends picked the play scape, while some friends took it more literal and painted our yellow duck waterer, and shape sorter! :)

In the afternoon, we enjoyed some yummy popsicles with Ms Arielle for her birthday!

It was a fantastic week in the Sunflower Room!

This week we will be celebrating  love.  The love for our friends, family, our earth,  and animals.  Lizzie’s group and Kinder Blossom will be focusing on the letters Ss and Tt.  Dom’s group will be focusing on the letter Pp.

Monday :  Dom’s group went over words that began with Pp.  They also practiced writing Pp on dry earse boards.  Then they read a book and pointed out words they heard in the story that began with Pp.  Lizzie;s group went through the Ss and Tt box discovering the objects inside.   We also practiced writing the letter Ss in our notebooks with pencils.  We then went outside to make sand art!  Kinder Blossom went around the school to find objects to put in their letter boxes as well as discussed words that began with the letter Ss.  They came up with more than 100 words!  They then had fun playing with shaving cream.

This afternoon we made Valentines cards for the kiddos in the Children’s Hospital.  We also we introduced to a new yoga teacher that will be with us every Monday.

What a great way to start off the week!

Tuesday:   This rainy and cold Tuesday we had late arrivals once again die to the weather.  We all want to thank you all for your understand and cooperation during all this crazy weather we are having!

Once we all arrived safely to school and had snack we didn’t have much time for Montessori work time.

We broke into our small groups to continue to learn about our letters of the week , Dom’s group practiced writing the Letter Pp in their Phonetic notebooks, played a math game on the peg board, and worked with flash cards to identify animals that begin with the letter Pp.  Lizzie’s group took turns taking onjects out of the letter Ss and Tt boxes to identify.  We have been also been discussing the different sounds words make when the letter h is directly behind an S or T, such as shoe, shirt, Thursday, thank you, etc.  We then headed to the tables for an art project, we each made a picture of space! The kiddos absolutely loved using glitter and star stickers to make their galaxies.  During our art project we discussed different objects in space that begin with S, such as stars, Saturn, satellites, our solar system.  Today Kinder Blossom added more letters to the word wall such as; a, at, are, by, be, love, I, we, and us.  They then continued writing the letter Ss on worksheets and Colette read sight words using flash cards.

This afternoon after nap we decorated 2 signs; one for Miss Toni’s birthday and the other for our ‘Love Celebration’ this Friday.  We also had a great time during yoga and ended our day playing in centers and having a dance party!

Wednesday:
Today is Miss Toni’s birthday!! Happy birthday! <3  This morning after a majority of our friends arrived we marched outside to enjoy the sunshine and have a little dance party in honor of Toni’s birthday!  We were having so much fun in the sun we decided to eat snack outside as well.  Miss Lizzie brought out Little Dragon to join in the sun as well.  All the Sunflowers were very excited to see him and watch him jump from Lizzie’s arm to her shirt.  After our birthday celebration and playing with Little Dragon we broke into our small groups.  Dom’s group stayed outside and painted pink Pp’s.  Lizzie’s group went inside to practice writing the letter Tt in their notebooks, while Kinder Blossom went around the school looking for objects beginning with the letter Tt to put in their Tt box then enjoyed playing with shaving cream as well.

This afternoon after nap we enjoyed Show and Tell, Spanish, centers, and a special art project.

Thursday:  This fabulous Thursday we spent most of our morning outside enjoying this beautiful weather we were having.  Before lunch we marched inside to work on a special project for our loved ones and for our Love Celebration tomorrow.   This afternoon we had Spanish on the deck and played with bubbles!  How fun!

Friday:  Happy Valentine’s Day!!!  Today we had our dear friend Joey Noel join us for the day!   We all just love Joey and get very excited when he comes and visits Green Sprout.  This morning we had an awesome dance party outside.  We also made more decorations for our party this afternoon.  Kinder Blossom did community helping; they cleaned up the front yard of Green Sprout! Thanks Kinder Blossom for helping keep our school beautiful.  This afternoon after nap we decorated bags for our Valentine cards to go in.  We then all sat in a circle to pass them out.  All the Sunflowers were so eager to pass out their Valentines and read the ones they received.   We then went in the backyard for our ‘Love Celebration ‘ which was a huge success! On behalf of all the Green Sprout teachers we want to say thank you for being so involved in our community, we couldn’t do any of this without you!

Have a great long weekend! See you Tuesday

Love, Lizzie
