MONDAY:   Dom was on Monday, so Miss Liz stepped in. Dom's Group introduced the letter "Oo"! Miss Liz had the group name words that start with the letter, then they made OWLS, using newspaper, beads for the eyes, and construction paper! It was a big hit!
Lizzies Group worked on the letters "Ww and Ll".
Kinder Blossom worked on the letter "Ll" practicing writing their letters and coming up with a list of words that start with "Ll"!

TUESDAY:
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION!!! We started the morning outside checking the gardens and welcoming friends! We made a community fruit salad for our morning picnic. It was a huge hit, and all friends enjoyed the different kinds of fruit they got in their cup!
Instead of Montessori and Group Work, we enjoyed the outdoors with earth day related activities including an art project, that involved blue and green food coloring, droppers and paper towels. They each got to make their "Earth", by squirting colored water on the towel and watching it spread, choosing where they wanted their "land" and "water"!

Yoga this week was great, as we mixed it up a bit, and had a combined yoga class which is both groups together with Miss Vanessa! We all stretched out our feet and brought them together in the middle creating a sort of "flower", when Miss Vanessa said it was time, we "Blossomed" out together, all stretching our arms up in the air! We sang our Namaste song,

WEDNESDAY:
Dom's Group today worked with shaving cream outside on the deck. We smeared it on the table and practiced writing our letter "Oo" in the shaving cream! They loved it so much, and enjoyed the sensory experience of the entire lesson!
Lizzies Group worked on their journals at the table, while Kinder Blossom worked on Montessori works.

Show N Tell in Groups was a great success! Friends were excited to share and were able to view their friends belongings.

Spanish with Miss Daphne was in the afternoon. We practiced our routine songs, then Miss Daphne passed out these cool twirly straws with a ball, so when you blow it softly the ball floats up. She showed our friends, then they took turns Practicing blowing their small ball with their straw.
All the friends were thankful and practiced using it before heading outside! :)
 THURSDAY:
Today Dom's Group finished up the letter "Oo", with a art project were we made "Ostriches", by making hand prints then using a marker to draw their eyes and legs.
Lizzies group finished up letters "Ww" and "Ll", going through their letter boxes, while Kinder Blossom played a math game before he

Decorated a Get Well/Birthday Card for Wren! Practiced Spanish

FRIDAY:

Dance Party/Face Painting Friday, while also celebrating Noahs 3rd Birthday! :) Friends got to choose what they wanted painted on their face, Colette was a kitty, Miya a princess, Tristan and Elliot wanted Ninja Turtle Mask in Blue, while Noah was a Pirate! It was a huge success and everyone was so happy with their face paint!

Mr Mike joined us for a yummy cooking project, where we got to pick and smell our own cilantro, squeeze our lemon, on top of some delicious brown couscous! They mixed it all up and tried it! Most plates were cleaned off by the kiddos, they enjoyed it so much! After we passed out Pirate Booty and Organic juice pouches, and sang Happy Birthday to Noah and Wren (whose birthday was the day before!)  We cleaned up, got shoes on, and headed out for some more face painting for the after noon!

Monday:  Today we jumped into another awesome week here at the Sprout.  Dom’s group began working on the letter Hh. Lizzie and Arielle’s group began working on the letters Ee and Rr.  Lizzie’s group brainstormed words that begin with each letter then wrote in their journals and read the new library books.  Kinder Blossom took turns writing the letter Ee words they came up with on the dry erase board then went on an Ee hunt around the school to fill up their Ee box.  During our small group time was the peak of the thunder storm; we turned off the lights and had a rainy day party in the classroom.  We then played in centers until it was time for lunch.  This afternoon we enjoyed yoga with Miss Liz and headed outside to enjoy the beautiful sunshine.

Tuesday:  What crazy weather we had today!  We decided to have a different schedule for today due to the weather.  We played in centers and worked on art until most of our friends arrived.  We then had a group snack while Miss Lizzie read us a story.  After snack we had Montessori work time during which a lot of our friends wanted to work on pouring and measuring water.  The older kiddos worked on making different shapes.  After work time we broke into our small groups.  Dom’s group found materials for their Hh box and practiced writing on the chalk board with chalk.  Lizzie’s group took turns discovering what was in the Ee and Rr boxes then made a family of elephants using grey paint and our hand prints.  Kinder Blossom wrote the letter Ee.  This afternoon we enjoyed yoga with Miss Vanessa, finished our art projects from this morning and had a blast playing soccer, Frisbee and catch with Miss Lizzie and Mr. Nick outside.

Wednesday:  Due to the cold weather again this morning, we started our off inside playing with play-doh and enjoying the ‘Good Night Moon’ matching game with Miss Lizzie.  After our outside time we marched inside for a group snack so we could read the book Ben brought in about Passover.  Thanks Ben!  Asher and Ben were both very excited to share their experiences of Passover with the Sunflowers.  This afternoon after nap we had Show and Tell.  Paige decided to have her dad Skip come in as her Show and Tell!  We all had absolutely loved having a visitor this afternoon.  Once we finished with Show and Tell we came outside to the deck and painted with pineapple tops and banana peels, and watermelons!  The collage turned out amazing!  You can check it out in our classroom.  We then enjoyed Spanish with Miss Daphne and outside time.

Thursday:  During small groups this morning Dom’s group did an art project, Miss Lizzie’s group finished up their rainbow and practiced writing their names, and Kinder Blossom practiced writing the letter Rr. This afternoon in Spanish we played a fishing game with Miss Daphne to identify colors in Spanish.  The Sunflowers really enjoyed taking turns to fish for the different colors.

Friday:  We had two special visitors today, Leina and Jane came to Green Sprout today to visit the Sunflowers.  We all really enjoyed spending the day with them.  During our dance party Friday time outside we painted 2 giant Sunflowers to hang up in our Welcome Center, they both look fabulous!

Have a great weekend!

MONDAY:
A great start to our day, with new montessori works out and great energies flowing. Asher worked with playdough and sea shell, while Addie exercised her fine motor skills with lacing buttons and string. Olive practiced pouring from one bottle to another.
Dom's group worked with the letter D. naming words and names of friends that start with "D".

We had yoga with Miss Liz, and then celebrated Paige's 5th birthday with vegan cupcakes!

Happy Birthday Paige!!!

TUESDAY:
Day 2 of our Recycling activities, and this activity was a big hit! We went through each class' recycling bins and chose some items to wash in the sensory tubs. Once done we put all items in bins to dry.
Inside we started our Montessori works, which included practicing pouring water and using a funnel to pour water into different sized containers.

WEDNESDAY:
Today started with a little frisbee practice, Asher, Byron, and Miss Lizzie, were tossing it back and forth to each other, and as more friends joined we played until it was time to go in.
Miss Lizzie gave a presentation to Wren, Olive, and Hank with a new montessori work. Color Matching and Recognition - 6 popsicle sticks with different colors on them and the matching piece to slide onto. Tristan and Teo worked on the sign language puzzle, while Ben worked with play dough. Hank worked on a continent puzzle.
Group 1 introduced more letter D words, and made dinosaurs out of their hand prints.
Group 2 practiced writing their names in their notebooks.

THURSDAY:
Today Group 1 played a fun math game.  Each friend took a turn rolling some dice, once they rolled it they counted the dots and using Dot markers, stamped on the letter "D"  to show how many dots they got!

After nap, Miss Daphne came for Spanish. We sang songs, played  games, and watched a short video

FRIDAY:
dance party/pajama/costume day was a giant hit! We also continued working on our group art activity, painting recycled materials blue and green.

We had several Spider man costumes, Teo dressed in his turtle costume, and Ivy and Miya were bunny rabbits! :)

For the Afternoon, we joined Chef Mike outside for our cooking project, making Spring Rolls. Friends got to pick their own leaf, wash it and sit at the table. Chef Mike passed around carrots, cilantro, and
cucumbers, and rice. Each friend had their own bowl, and got to roll up their spring roll and eat it! Many friends tried it, and really enjoyed it. Great ending to a Great Day!

Love

The month of April Green Sprout classes will be focusing on the topic of the Environment Awareness.  Each week a class will be choosing a topic and planning several different activities for all the classes to participate in during our group outside time in the morning.  The Sunflowers chose community as their topic for this week.

Monday:  Today during small groups, every group discussed the ways we can help our community/environment.  The kiddos came up with some great ideas!  They suggested we help our younger friends line up and take off their shoes before lunch, clean up trash on our playground,  and help our friends when they are sad.  Today we all helped our Pre-tot and Toddler friends to the gate, up the ramp and helped them take off their shoes.  The Sunflowers are all such great helpers!

Tuesday:  Today we continued helping our younger friends before lunch but we also spent time cleaning the backyard.  The Sunflowers used teamwork to find pieces of trash or broken toys to throw away to help make our school sparkle!  This afternoon after nap we started on a community quilt we will be hanging in our Welcome Center.  Each class has made different pieces; we are all really excited to see the finished product.

Wednesday:  Dom was out today and Miss Liz stepped in and subbed for her.  This morning during small group time group 1 (Dom’s) group made noodle art for the letter Nn.  Miss Lizzie’s group painted jellyfish for the letter Jj and Kinder Blossom brainstormed words that begin with Jj and found objects to put in the Jj box.  This afternoon during Spanish Miss Daphne brought a mirror so we all could watch our mouths as we made the different sounds for the vowels.  The kiddos absolutely loved seeing the shape their mouth’s made with every letter.

Thursday:  During our Montessori work time Ben, Miya, Dax, Addie and Dom worked on a puzzle of Australia; they used a map of Australia to identify the countries and where they are located on the puzzle.  During small groups Dom’s group painted to night sky while Miss Lizzie’s group made igloos.  Kinder Blossom played a math game using money to complete addition and subtraction problems.  Paislie brought back the Secret Sack and there was a stethoscope inside!!  We each took turns listening to our hearts.  What a great item for the Secret Sack!  This afternoon we finished up our part of our community quilt and enjoyed Spanish with Miss Daphne.

Friday:  We started off this fabulous Friday with a dance party outside.  This afternoon we enjoyed a cooking project with Chef Mike.  We made apple pies using green apple slices, granola, and pita bread.  The Sunflowers really enjoyed this cooking project and gobbled up every bite.
