This week is the last week for Colette, Elliot and Dax, they will be starting Kindergarten.  It's also the last week for Miss Ivy, she will be starting a new Montessori school.  This week we will be spending our time giving these friends extra love and hugs.  We will also be focusing out art and cooking projects around them,

Monday:  We spent most of the morning outside enjoying the cool breeze we were having.  We came in before lunch to do some Montessori work.  A lot of our friends focused their time on our new puzzles Mr. Charlie, from the Pre Tot class donated to the Sunflower's.  This afternoon we enjoyed yoga with Miss Liz, also giving her extra love and hugs because she will be traveling to India very soon.

Tuesday:  This morning during Montessori work time Jasper and Joey made up their own dice game.  They each rolled a die, then made either a subtraction or an addition math problem from the numbers they rolled!  How impressive!  During our family meeting time after nap we took time for take our art off the walls and put it in our cubbies.  We also enjoyed ants on a log for snack and some playtime on the deck.

Wednesday:
This morning we extended our Montessori work time because all of our friends were very focused.  Some of our wanted to help their teachers put art work from our walls in their friends cubbies.  We enjoyed Show and Tell after nap this afternoon, also Spanish with Miss Daphne! YAY!

Thursday:  Today is Elliot's last day at Green Sprout :(   This morning we had a car wash in the backyard with all of out friends from all three classes.  We also celebrated Elliot starting Kindergarten, this afternoon, with his favorite snack, Pita chips.

Friday:  This morning along with our dance party outside we blew up balloons for a balloon party!  We also went inside to enjoy a very special morning snack, we had yogurt with strawberries, raisins, and rasberries.  THe Sunflowers really enjoyed our yogurt party!  We then went back outside to make capes!  We cut t-shirts to make then capes then used puff paint to decorate them.  This afternoon we had another special snack followed by a black light dance party in our new capes! The Sunflower's absolutely loved seeing their capes and paint glow int he black light.  What an amazing end to an amazing week, celebrating the last day of some beloved Sprouts.

Show N Tell and Letters from Friends!!!

MONDAY:
A great way to start the week, reading new library books, and working on Montessori works.

TUESDAY:

i was out today, but heard it was full of fun, and interesting explorations!!

WEDNESDAY:
Today was special, as we had a new friend, Melanie, join us during our class and outside time.
We had a group Show N Tell, which was even more fun since we got to share with our new friend as well!! Lots of trucks, and cars from Noah, asher, and Teo, while Ivy showed off her pink soccer ball, Paislie showed her soccer medal, and Wren brought a somewhat old camera. He was excited to show us how it worked, and the magnifying glass "popped up"!
after nap, friends were encouraged to bring out their Show N tell and share with whomever they liked. Ms Daphne was not here this week, so we extended art/construction time, before heading outside.
THURSDAY:
It was a great day, as we received a special letter in the mail from our friend, Olive, in houston! We read the letter after nap, to all our friends, and talked about Olive, and how much we missed her! We all agreed we should respond to Olives letter!
After nap, many friends came by to tell us what they wanted to write in Olives letter, and many friends also made art pieces for her!
While friends decorated art, Ms Arielle also set up a great fine motor skilled/art activity! She cut up pieces of straw, and cut pieces of string, laid it out onto a tray and friends worked with their fine motor skills, sliding the straws onto the string making a bracelet or necklace. Many friends made them for their "mommy", it was a BIG hit!!
FRIDAY:

What better way to start our FRIDAY, then with Dance Party and a giant watermelon to quench the thirst of dancing!!! i cut it and handed it out, rhine and all, and that was the most exciting part, was watching my friends enjoy their melon then composting the rhine! It was also a cute sight to see everyone take big bites and watermelon juice drip onto their shirts as they enjoyed their piece!   I was not able to capture many photos as i was cutting the melon, BUT i guarantee there was nothing but smiles today on the playground, and in the classroom!

Christmas and Hanukkah in "July"

Monday:  This morning we began to discuss our theme for the week.  All the kiddos were very excited to watch as Miss Lizzie and Arielle brought out all the decorations from our closet, including a Christmas tree!  Asher let us borrow a Menorah that his family uses during Hanukah.

Tuesday:  This morning during Montessori work time most of the Sunflowers worked together to put many different puzzles together.    Miss Lizzie and Arielle used this time to hang up decorations around our classroom.  Instead of small groups today we all gathered on the carpet to decorate our Christmas tree and read the new library books pertaining to Hanukah and Christmas.  This afternoon we painted ornaments to hang on our tree and we lit the first candle on our Menorah.  We also enjoyed yoga on the deck with Miss Vanessa, playing with a parachute!

Wednesday:  We spent the morning outside having a picnic for snack and painting pasta we are using to wrap around our tree.  We enjoyed Show and Tell after nap today because we spent the morning outside.   Many Sunflowers brought a Show and Tell to go along with our Christmas in July theme.  Ancel and Colette brought a keyboard that all the kiddos really enjoyed playing.  For our art project this afternoon we continued to make decorations for our tree.

Thursday:  We had a very special treat this morning after snack.  Miss Ashley from the Toddler room came to visit and brought her record player that she used as a kid.  She showed us how the record player worked and passed around some vinyl’s for the kiddos to smell and look at closely.  Miss Ashley had many records with Christmas songs; we listened to Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman, and even A Charlie Brown Christmas!  We all had so much fun singing along with the music!  Thank you so much Miss Ashley for sharing!  We then marched back outside and played with shaving cream, pretending it was snow!

Friday:  Miss Lizzie was absent on Friday.

Miss Arielle and I think our Christmas in “July” week was a huge success!  We want to thank all of you who brought in materials, books, and pictures to share with the Sunflowers!

Much love,  Miss Lizzie
