There have been so many last day's to celebrate as the kindergarten school year is about to start and of those friends graduating on is, Jette Campbell. He will be attending Austin Discovery school while his sister Zoey will continue on in the Primary Class room. Our day started with a later than usual AM snack as we were all so eagerly awaiting for Jette's arrival. We discuss our daily plans each morning and we knew that today was going to be Jette's special picks for our daily activities. Jette and Zoey arrived with their new pet dog, Zelda. We were all seated at circle time and had Zelda come to the middle so we could give her soft pets and love! The energy instantly picked up and so we decided to lead right into morning stretches and some good ol dance party! Jette picked "Lets get physical" as our dance party anthem of the day! We had been recently taking turns showing our friends our dance moves and so that sparked the idea to introduce the "cat walk." Using a long piece of masking tape we laid down a curvy line straight down the classroom and Toni was first to demonstrate her cat walk. I used sass and spicy dance moves at the end to help get the part started. I then turned it over to Mo to take the first turn down the walk and she stood the for a few seconds thinking about her next move. She got down on her hands and started walking and talking like a cat. She looked up and told me " This is a cat walk" and continued her way down to the end and back. When it was Zoey Campbell's turn she shook her hips side to side as she walked down then got to the end and went straight into a split position! It was amazing! Her friends were all so excited by this! They have started to naturally "Cheer" on their friends and we have opened dialogue about that definitely being one way to show support and love towards their friends! After dance party was over we worked on a few breathing exercises to help get us cooled down and refocussed for classroom exploration time!
Friends quickly got busy in their classroom working on lots of different types of things. Maya and Maggie were very interested in measuring different objects in our construction area. Mo and Collette had the idea to build a train track out of construction paper and tape. They then used markers as cars to ride on the track! They were very proud of their work!
The class did an excellent job in cleaning and re-organizing their classroom before we went outside. They were so excited by their ability to be clean up that they insisted on making a straight line at the door. We have been working extra hard on walking in a line from our classroom to the backyard as they understand it helps teachers keep them accounted for when transporting and overall safe! Safety has been a very important topic lately :)
Each time I go to take a group (prompted) picture my friends now like to hold up their peace signs as their "message to the world." Yay.
We had a super fun outdoor time! We decided to move the table that was on the floor to another spot in our "Ball obstacle" and as we lifted it we discovered a large group of crickets that went jumping everywhere! Some of our friends were very excited go on a cricket hunt while others went running in the opposite directions of the crickets! Maya and Jette were extra motived to catch one and they both did!

After outdoor exploration we had a split up lunch as some friends wanted to picnic out on the deck and some wanted to sit at the table! We then had a few more pages read out of the Lion King Book by our dear Cassandra and it was off to nap!

After nap Nick and his best friend stopped by for a visit and each Spout was quick to introduced themselves with their name and age! Usually there will be one or two friends feeling a little shy but not today! Everyone stood up when it was their turn to introduced and loudly welcomed our new friend to our classroom! Friends were extra excited because they all knew that Jette brought cookies to share as special treat for his last day. He was so eager to pass them out to every friend in his class AND every teacher at Green Sprout. There was so much love and appreciation being shared with Jette that our afternoon was so very blissful and exciting. The class enjoyed their cookies while Leona and the class sung their favorite Spanish songs.
