Growing Lima Beans & Practicing Writing Aa

4/3/2013

Today's weather kept us inside this morning, we started our day off with centers.  The Shining Stars invented a new game with a light toy we used yesterday during the dance party.  They turned the light on and tried to move around the carpet to stay on certain colors.  What a great idea!
During snack we did Secret Sack that Colette brought back today.  The item she put in a sack was a box she said her and Ancel like to use at a fort!  How cool!!
After snack and Secret Sack we started on our Science experiment with Lima Beans.  Each kiddo received their own bag with their names on it with a damp paper towel in it (thank you Kinder Blossom!)  We then passed out four Lima beans to put in our bag.  We taped the bags to the windows and now we watch the roots grow!! Be sure to keep an eye on the bags because the Lima beans are already starting to sprout :)
During a quick circle time we introduced our Aa letter box to our friends who weren't here yesterday.  We then all gathered at the big table to practice writing the letter Aa in our individual notebooks.  The Shining Star really did a great job writing their letters! Once we completed our letters we headed back to centers.
The box that Colette brought in the Secret Sack was a huge hit during center time.  They loved getting inside the box and incorporating it in their play during centers.
This afternoon the kiddos continued the fun playing in centers because the backyard was too wet to go outside.
