It is Halloween today!! Most of our little sprouts were dressed up in some fantastic costumes. We spent some outside time looking at everyone's outfits and acting out their characters. It was great to see everyone transform into their costume. Leina was a princess and acted like one. She had no time for common folk while she was princess Belle. Dax was a transformer and flew around everywhere with a robot voice trying to rescue everyone. Tristan and Miya were pirates, Miya was a more fierce pirate, while Tristan had a much more comedic aspect to his persona. We had a few activities for our friends before we went inside. We "hid" little pumpkins in the sandbox for everyone to find. Once found all of our friends were more intrigued by the miniature things and just played with them instead of continuing to play the game. We also helped miss Toni spread a little more mulch for the party this afternoon. We headed inside for snack after some socializing. Following snack we played some alphabet bingo. Everyone did rather well focusing on the game even with all the distractions of costumes and props around them. We played black out bingo which means the whole card has to be filled. Even with only 8 boxes the first game took a bit of time. Miya continued to surprise us by calling out the letter when it was her turn to draw a card. Since we had everyone seated, we did a quick beat game, this is wear one friend makes a beat the. Everyone tries to mimic it. It's a good way to refocus our friends for a transition, which was to head out to the deck for a little dramatic play with their costumes. Everyone was very excited to be outside and playing so we had lunch on the deck too. All of our sprouts like lunch on the deck because they can keep playing when they are finished with their lunches, provided they eat their lunch then pack everything back up. After nap and snack time, we met at the circle and talked about our costumes. Leina and Miya brought stickers and finger puppets respectively to share with the class. We took this time to pass them out and at a last minute change of heart Miya couldn't part with the finger puppets and asks for them back. As she piled them back into the package unbeknownst to her Rhys took one each time she turned her back. With a total of 3 illicitly gained finger puppets nick stopped this Robbin hood activity in order to make time for Spanish class. Everyone was rather content with themselves and some friends decided to have Spanish class laying on their backs. We had no problem with this tactic because they knew the songs well enough to sing without looking at the pictures. We took a few extra minutes than normal in Spanish class because Toni and Lizzie had to prep for the party outside. Once outside was ready we headed to the playground to meet moms and dads and have a fun Halloween party.
