Handy Dandy Tools

Happy Monday parents!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend!  This morning on the playground all the kiddos where in such high spirits during morning drop off.  It makes us so happy to see all the kiddos so eager to start another week.  This morning after Leina, Zoey, and Maya went with Miss Arielle for Kinder Blossom while the rest of the Shining Stars had circle time and Show and Tell.

After our circle time, we went to centers.  Most of the kiddos wanted to play with our new toys in the Construction center.  We have new tools and a parking garage for the kiddos to explore and exercise their fine motor skills using the different tools.  Miya, Rhys, Tristan and Dax all worked together to fix the parking garage.  During this time Miss Lizzie explained how to use each tool and what they were called.  We discussed that some tools we twist or spin, some we use to hit nails; emphasizing that our hammer here at Green Sprout is only pretend and we must be gentle when using this toy.  We chatted how some tools are very sharp and are used to cut pieces of wood or other material.  During this time we really discussed safety and how to be safe when using tools, even pretend ones.

While most of the kiddos were exploring in the Construction center, Colette and Paige wanted to practice writing in the Writing Center.  We really focused our attention to our names.  We used markers to help us write our names.

Our center time just flew by today and before we knew it was time to go outside to release some energy before lunch and nap time.  While outside our awesome substitute Mr. Kenny was making Mickey Mouse balloons for the kiddos to play with.  The Shining Stars did a fabulous job sharing these balloon animals!

Once we all woke up from a long nap, we finished show and tell then got ready for our afternoon art project. This afternoon we gathered on the deck to start on our Christmas tree for our room.  We all took off our shoes and socks then used our feet to paint the leaves of the tree!  All the kiddos really enjoyed feeling the wet and gooey texture on their feet and in between their toes!  We continued to play on the deck after we finished the tree.  Paige brought us an extra special treat today!  She brought cookies for our class, how sweet! While the kiddos were playing on the deck we baked the cookies, then sat down for an awesome picnic outside! We then cleaned off our feet, put on our shoes and headed outside for afternoon pick up.

We had a great day today here in the Shining Stars room, really getting in to the Holiday Spirit!

Lots of Love, Lizzie
