Happy Wednesday

The rainy weather this Wednesday morning couldn't stop us from the fun.  We started our day in the classroom.  Rhys, Joey and Miya were the first to arrive to school today, they enjoyed each others company as they played with Rhys' cars be brought from home and so graciously shared with his friends.  They built a bridge with the blocks in the Construction Center for the cars to drive on.  Miya's attention was turned to Dramatic Play center.  They cooked each other breakfast, and served it to our friends who were arriving to school.  The dramatic play center really grabbed all the shining Stars attention this morning as they discovered more costumes and clothes they could dress up in.  Miss Arielle arrived and acted as if she was a doctor, she listened to everyone's heart beat.
During snack this morning Miss Lizzie read a book entitled 'When I get Angry'.  During the story we all discussed what makes us angry sometimes and the ways we help our bodies and minds get through this feeling.  The Shining Star's all agreed talking about what made us angry helps, taking a deep breath and walking away can really help us when we start feeling angry.
Miss Lizzie led circle time, Ben and Maya helped Miss Lizzie as we went through the ABC chart.  As we were discussing the calendar we began our discussion on Valentines Day, or our Celebration of Love.
We continued our discussion at the big table as we decorated hearts.  Using the Reggio philosophy we let the kiddos really use their imaginations and creative freedom when decorating their hearts.  We had paint, stickers, glitter and markers for the kiddos to choose to either use one or all the the materials when decorating their hearts.  Miss Arielle and I really love the Reggio philosophy and truly believe each child should be free to express themselves anyway they want to.  Because the kiddos were free to decorate anyway they wanted to some kiddos finished before others so we opened our Discovery Centers continuing the flight of their imaginations and minds. :)
This afternoon unfortunately Mrs. Leona wasn't able to join us again but Mr. Nick came in the Shining Star room to love on and laugh with the kiddos!  Everyone was so excited they got to spend this time with him! After some much needed hugs from Mr. Nick we all headed outside so we could embrace all the amazing energy we gained today here at Green Sprout!
