In the Groove on this Tuesday......

Our early morning started off with some good ol fashion garden watering and chat! We walked over and told the Garden good morning and gave her some loving! Leina, Miya, and a few toddler friends sang the "team work" song as they all held a hand on the water hose! As soon as it hit 9 am we shared in a big group hug with Nick before coming inside!
We gathered around for AM snack and started off with a game of eye spy! We used a small owl figure as our object to find in the eating area. Nick is great for hiding things in high places as the owl found hiding spots on the fire extinguisher and fire exit sign! Leina and Mo were our two friends to spot the little owl every time! They group really enjoyed having to only use their eyes from their seats to find the hidden object. This game brought up some very interesting conversations.
  • We first talked about the function and safety of the first extinguisher. Friends asked questions about when we would use that at Green Sprout and who was in charge of "making sure" it does not spill out because then that "would waist" our "fire protection"
  • Towards the end of the game Leina pointed out that she had really "good spy skills" and that she was happy to have 2 working eyes. I asked her if everyone had two working eyes and she said no. Friends were curious to know why not and so we engaged in a conversation about deaf and blind people and we did a few exercised where we covered our eyes and tried to serve our snacks then we held our hands over our ears and tried to see if we could still here the soft classical music on in the background. The group seemed very enlightened by the unfamiliar feeling of not being able to see and hear for a few seconds.
After snack we had our routine circle time where we work on warming up our brains & bodies. We did some name games, counting activities, calendar, weather, and stretches. Friends then went off for some classroom explorations. Some of their interests included letter writing on the chalkboard desk. Leina, Zoey, and Mia went through the entire alphabet cards and were so pleased with their work!

Friends were also excited about using different tile patterns in their construction work. Caden was particularly interested in organizing and counting cube pieces with Nick. Overall if was a very engaged morning!

Our afternoon was extra exciting because we knew that Maggie brought fruit pops to celebrate her last summer day at the Sprout. She is headed back to her "new school" as she calls it and ensures us that she will be back to visit next summer!
To close out our day we had a fun game of duck duck goose with sandy and Nick!
Oh happy days at the Sprout~

I may not get to these every day, but when I do, I look at ALL the ones I've missed. And I want to thank you guys for the amazing pictures and details about the day!

Miya is always singing the teamwork song at home. It's so cute! :)

I also wanted to say that it is so cool that you guys talked about others who don't have use of all their senses. What a great exercise for the kids to get some awareness.
