It's a Magical Musical Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! Since we have had so much rain we stayed this morning.  This gave us the opportunity to really explore the new items in our classroom!  This morning we played with real life objects, such as lab tops, computer key boards, and head phones!  All the kiddos really enjoyed acting as if they were running a store or working in an office.  Today also gave us a chance to explore how certain music makes us feel.  We explored these emotions by playing different types of music as the kiddos painted a collage.  We played Led Zeppelin, B.B. King and some dubstep.   With each type of music the kiddos painted on the paper to express their emotions.  We asked the kiddos to vocalize what they were feeling as they were painting.  During the Zeppelin most of our friends said it made them feel excited! B.B. King on the other hand made some of our friends feel sad. Maureen quickly expressed that this type of music made her feel sad, all of our friends went from painting at a very fast pace to make slow strokes with the sponges we were painting with.  We explained that this type of music is called the blues.  During the time we played dubstep our friends were surprised how the music kept changing the beat, from fast to slow.  Caden asked why there isn’t any singing in the song; we explained to him that some songs don’t have singing and that it is called instrumental.  All the kiddos really enjoyed listening to different types of music as they painted!  You can check out our master piece on the wall in the Welcome Center on top of the pictures of our bodies! J  After our cooking project, “Ants on a Hill’; which consisted of celery, sunflower butter, and raisins.  Each kiddo practiced spreading sunflower butter on the celery and used the raisins as ants! Once we all cleaned our area, we turned off the lights for a special dance party with Mrs. Jackie playing the guitar!  We used light up toys as we danced to the music she was playing on the guitar!  Have a great weekend! See you Monday!
