Monday:  This morning during our circle time we gathered at the tables to have presentations on our Practical Life Montessori shelf.  The guides have color coded each work so the kiddos know which work they are able to use.  The Sunflower’s we very eager to start Montessori work time!  During this time the Practical Life shelf was empty as all the kiddos used this time to start mastering these new works.  When we broke up into small groups, all three groups were introduced to the letter of the week Ss.  All three groups brainstormed words beginning with the letter Ss.  Kinder Blossom went on a Scavenger hunt around the school to find objects to put in their letter box.  This afternoon we painted suns and enjoyed free play in centers.

Tuesday:  This morning we enjoyed water coloring, puzzles, snack, and Play-Doh while all of our friends arrived to school.  We then gathered on the carpet for circle time and to listen to two stories Miss Lizzie read.  During our small group time, group A enjoyed an art project making striped snakes.  Group B used glue and colored sand to make sand art, Kinder Blossom practiced writing the letter Ss in their notebooks.  This afternoon we enjoyed yoga with Miss Ann because Miss Vanessa is out of town.  We also made suns using yellow paint and plates.

Wednesday:  This morning during Montessori work time the Sunflowers continued to explore the new Practical Life works we gave presentations on earlier this week.

Group B made skeletons using Q-tips, glue and black paper.  We then made spider webs.  We put our orange paper in a container, put black paint in the middle of the paper, then marbles on top of the black paint.  We then shook the container to move the marbles and black paint on the paper.  The kiddos absolutely loved this art project!  Kinder Blossom earned a party today because they earned 10 stickers on their ‘Voice Check’ chart.  For their party they went out to the deck to enjoy some vegan ice cream.  All three groups did Show and Tell.  Dom Dom brought in her dog Soy Bean!  We loved saying hi to him in our classroom.  This afternoon we enjoyed playing with our Show and Tells, and Spanish with Miss Daphne.

Thursday:  During small group time this morning Group A out stickers on a cut out of the letter S.  Group B practiced writing the letter Ss.  They also painting sticks we are going to make a mobile out of.  Kinder Blossom was given a presentation by Miss Ashley on a new Montessori work.  They also practiced writing the letter Ss in their notebooks.  This afternoon we had an absolute blast during Chinese class!During Chinese we made a poster of the numbers 1-12 to hang in our circle time area to practice every day.  After Chinese we spent time making a birthday poster for Miss Ashley’s birthday celebration tomorrow.

Friday:  We spent the morning in the Toddler room celebrating Miss Ashley’s birthday!  Miss Jodie decorated the room with streamers; they kiddos loved hanging out with Miss Ashley this morning.  We then came back into the Primary room for group snack then headed outside to continue the celebration with our Friday dance party!  We also painted rocks from our garden.  We are going to have a rock for each letter in the alphabet.  Today we worked on the letter A.  We painted all the kiddos names on the rock that begin with A.  This afternoon we enjoyed a cooking project with Miss Liz, we rolled our own sushi!!  The kiddos each had their own rolling mat, rice and seaweed.  The Sunflowers absolutely LOVED this cooking project.

We had an absolute blast this week learning about the letter Ss!  We hope everyone has a very relaxing weekend.  We will see you Monday, ready to jump into the letter Tt!

Love, Lizzie
