Letters, Numbers and Shapes OH MY!

Hey parents!  We hope everyone’s week has been going well!  This morning outside while waiting for our friends to arrive Miss Lizzie, Leina, Miya, Colette and Paige played unicorns! Miss Lizzie was the mommy unicorn and she brought a hula hoop that had “magic powers”!  Miss Lizzie put the hula hoop around the girls to give them wings so we could soar as high as the clouds!  Leina immediately informed us that when we get wings we are now Pegasus’!    We flew around the playground acting as if we were going to school, having nap time, eating breakfast lunch and dinner.  We had ice cream after dinner, the girls love making all the food in the sandbox!  Our friend Caden joined us to eat pears and raspberries for snack.  Once everyone was done with snack washed their bowls; discussing how washing our bowls after snack is a responsibility we have at school. Everyone gathered at the carpet for circle time and show and tell! Colette brought in a Curious George book and Mr. Nick read to everyone, Miya brought in Lucy that was dressed for Halloween,  Leina brought in a necklace and bracelet that was given to her by her aunt, Paige brought in a bean bag she loves to snuggle with, and Caden brought in a medal he received from his grandpa.  Show and Tell is always so special because it really let’s all the kiddos get to know each other so much better!  Miss Lizzie and Mr. Nick brought out our learning binders to practice writing letters during our classroom activity time.  You can look at all the great work all the kiddos have done in their binders each day; they are always located in the white bookcase under the parent’s board! Once we practiced our letters for the day we continued our classroom exploration in our learning stations.  Miya, Paige, and Colette played went to the sensory station and explored different textures.  Once they were finished played the girls took it upon themselves to go get a dust pan and broom to clean up the area because they said "its our classroom responsibility to clean our area when we are done!"  Leina took some time to draw while Caden was in the math center using his time to count.  Leina heard Caden counting and wanted to join him!  They had a great time counting together! This afternoon after snack we took the time to practice counting and making shapes.  Each kiddo counted out circles to place in their choice of shape on paper; we then sprayed the paper with different colors to see the shapes we made!  Once we used circles, we continued our counting with beans.  We let the kiddos make whatever pattern they wanted to on this paper.  The kiddos really loved to see the images they made once the paint was sprayed on their paper! After completing our art project it was time for Spanish!  During Spanish Mrs. Leona taught us a new song about barnyard animals.  As we were singing we acted like the animals on the farm!  We also used scarves to sing and dance using different parts of our bodies!  We used our bodies in so many different ways in Spanish today! We said adios to Mrs. Leona and headed outside for afternoon pickup!
