Miss Cherokee's last week & Colette's 5th Bday

Monday:  Welcome back everyone!  We all hope you had a great weekend!  This week Dom’s group will be focusing on the letter Uu, while Lizzie’s group and Kinder Blossom will both be working on the letters Xx and Kk.  Next week Lizzie’s group and Kinder Blossom will both be finishing up the Phonetic alphabet!  How exciting!  During small groups all three groups brainstormed words beginning with their letters.  During our outside time, we were mostly focused on finding roly pollies in the garden and playing kick ball.  We also enjoyed yoga with Miss Liz.

Tuesday:  During Montessori work time Lizzie, Arielle and Dom introduced some new works.  The works are focused on shapes, color recognition and building.  The Sunflowers all were very intrigued and eager to each have a turn to work with our new materials.  During lunch Miss Lizzie told a story she heard on the radio.  A man was doing a 16 mile swim off the coast of New Zealand when he saw a shark circling below him.  Then suddenly about 12-15 dolphins started swimming around him and didn’t leave his side until he made it to shore.  What an amazing story!  During yoga this afternoon with Miss Vanessa she introduced the dolphin pose! How cool is that!?  We all took turns swimming underneath each other’s dolphin poses.  This afternoon we also made cards for Miss Cherokee because Friday is her last day. L

Wednesday:   During small group time this morning Dom’s group enjoyed gluing and decorating the letter Uu.  Lizzie’s group made kites using construction paper, water colors, tissue paper, markers and crayons while Kinder Blossom made the Xx box and wrote words beginning with Kk and the dry erase board, also did Show and Tell. This afternoon Lizzie’s group had Show and Tell on the deck while Dom’s group met on the carpet for their Show and Tell. Miss Lizzie’s show and tell was our friend June from the Infant room because she had a koala shirt on.  All the kiddos absolutely love when we have visitors from the infant room. We had a blast in Spanish with Miss Daphne and a great time in this beautiful weather in the backyard.

Thursday:  HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY COLETTE!
We started off this fabulous Thursday outside reading books that Jasper brought to school in the awesome sunshine.  We had a new friend join our class today, Cetta.  She is 3 years old and the daughter of one of Green Sprout's previous Spanish teachers.  We are all very excited to have yet another outgoing, loving, special friend join the Sunflower family.  This afternoon we made a birthday sign for Colette and enjoyed Spanish with Miss Daphne.

Friday:  This Friday's dance party was dedicated to our beloved Cherokee for her last day here at The Sprout.  We all are going to miss her very much!  We spent the entire morning outside giving her lots of love and hugs.  We ate snack outside with all the classes.  This afternoon after nap we had a black light dance party then headed outside to enjoy sherbert and another dance party.
