Monday hustle (10/15/12)
Monday started with a lot of different emotions during drop off, but after a few silly games everyone was ready to get in the classroom and do some group activities.
After our morning snack we met at our big carpet for circle time. We did the normal calendar and temperature activities with a quick beat game to release a little energy before show and tell. The beat game starts with one of our friends coming up with a beat and the rest of the class trying to replicate it. After a few rounds and increasingly hard to follow beats we started S&T. We had a few duplicated items from the previous week but they were happy to show them and our audience was happy to listen.
After S&T we brought some new puzzles out and a few practical learning toys. Dax, Tristan and Nick worked on the food puzzle which shows a picture of food and its spelling. Pizza was the easiest part to complete with fruits taking the longest time to tackle. Zoe worked diligently on the bear puzzle which has different fasteners such as zippers, laces, and buttons to master. After a little guided activities our friends were free to work in stations for the next twenty minutes until a brief outside romp. The beginning of lunch time ended our outside exploration and following a story we were ready for nap. Leina is one of our friends who doesn't always go to sleep so halfway through nap she works on her notebook and then a bit of drawing till all of our friends were awake. After snack we had a special art project to complete. We took a piece of paper and everyone drew one part of a face then past the paper to the person next to them, then that person drew one part of the face and passes it again until we had a complete person. The pictures came out really well. As a contrast to our group pictures everyone drew their own person to see the difference between a collaborative effort and an individual effort. Everyone really enjoyed this project so our friends took some extra time drawing more faces, and soon it was outside time. We ended our day with outdoor pickup and a few games of hide and seek which always just turn into tag.
