Nothing but Smiles on this Monday!

Tis the day to begin a new month and a new unit of learning!  What a great day to start on our new unit of learning!  Our unit this month is Awareness of Others, we are starting our unit with "Social Responsibility".  This morning we had a special guest come and take our pictures!  We are all so excited to have a class photo to hang up at school! Our special guest photographer arrived right after snack, so we headed outside to show off our beautiful smiles and pose for a class picture! All of our kiddos are definitely not camera shy, he stayed to take pictures of the kiddos playing!  They absolutely LOVED this, the kiddos were very eager for him to take pictures of them and their friends! Once we sat down at the table for lunch we discussed our new topic for the week.  Since its Monday it was time for us to assign new helping jobs on our helping chart.  This was an opportune time to discuss the meaning of responsibility.  We discussed that we have responsibilities in our classroom, and at home.  Today we focused on our responsibilities in the classroom.  each child gave us an example of what we do in our classroom each day that we are responsible for; whether it be taking care of the toys we are playing with, taking care of our personal belongings, our bodies, our friends.  The kiddos also gave example like washing their bowls when done with snack, folding up their nap mats, putting away the materials when they are done using them, putting away lunches.  Since we were outside this morning taking our class picture, we didn't have time for show and tell.  After everyone woke up from nap and we ate snack we gathered on the carpet to have show and tell.   During our time at the carpet some of the kiddos pointed out the fact that when they bring their show and tell from home it is their responsibility to keep track of it and make sure it gets back home safe.  All of the kiddos absolutely love informing their friends of what they brought from home, once everyone had a turn it was already time to go outside for afternoon pick up!
