The Giving Tree

Hi parents!
Another amazing day here in the Shining Star Room! :)
This morning we had a picnic on the playscape for snack.  The weather was too perfect, we didn't have to deprived the kiddos of the sunshine and cool morning breeze! Once we gobbled up snack we headed inside to work on some art projects to put on our wall for November!
Miss Lizzie cut out an outline of a tree and we all painted to tree truck brown.  This tree will be hanging up on our wall; this is going to be our 'Giving Tree' for November.  Each day during circle time we will have the time to discuss what actions we have taken with our family and friends to give hugs, give help, give advice, give your time.  Miss Lizzie and Mr. Nick will write down what we have given to someone else and we will hang it on our tree! We are all very excited to see how many ways we can give our time and love to others.
Once we finished painting the tree trunk we came back to the table to glue leaves and make more leaf patterns like yesterday.  The kiddos really enjoyed the art project and wanted to continue it today.  The leaves we used to make patterns we then used to glue on paper to put in our Giving Tree.
We then gathered on the carpet for circle time to discuss what our tree trunk was going to become, where we are going to place in in the classroom, and the purpose of the 'Giving Tree'.  All the kiddos were very excited to get the tree on the wall and watch it grow full of good deeds done to others!
This afternoon after nap we cut out pictures of magazines of people helping others to make collages!  Our friends really enjoy looking through the magazines and finding pictures of cut out.  Once we were finished gluing our pictures on our pieces of paper we began free art play, but because we all were so diligent with our picture cutting we didn’t have much time for free art before it was time to go outside for afternoon pick up.  See everyone tomorrow!
