The Shining Stars!

What a great Monday we had here in the Primary Room!  Last week we discussed giving our classroom a special name.  We decided on ‘The Shining Stars’! All the munchkins loved this idea and when we are outside they can’t wait for Lizzie or Nick to call for the Shining Stars to line up.

This morning after drop off outside we headed in for snack to eat our delicious pears and bananas and to discover what our classroom helper jobs will be this week.  Rhys is helping water plants, Miya is the caboose of our line to make sure all our friends are staying in line as we walk throughout the building, Dax is out line leader, Paige is our story picker, Tristan is our light monitor And gets to turn the lights on and off before and after nap, Maya is our compost helper, Leina is our count off helper, Zoey is our water filler and makes sure all of our water bottles stay full all day, and Colette is our calendar helper.  All the kiddos are very eager to help out in the classroom and take their classroom helper responsibilities very seriously.  We love our helper chart not only to reiterate responsibility but to introduce team work to show it takes everyone to come together to make our classroom shine!

We then gathered on the carpet for everyone's favorite part of the week, Show and Tell!  We love having Show and Tell on Mondays because it gives all the kiddos not only a chance to inform all their friends of the object they brought in but also a chance to tell everyone what they did over the weekend!

We headed back outside before lunch to run around get shake our sillies out before lunch and nap time. All the kiddos went right down at the beginning of nap and didn't wake up until we turned on the lights.  It must have  a fun filled weekend for everyone!

After snack, we got ready for our afternoon art project.  Miss Lizzie went and gathered leaves that have fallen around Green Sprout.  We then picked out four leaves, a crayon, and then placed the leaves under the paper to show all the veins in the leaves.  During this project, we discussed what season we are in, the fact that we can also call Fall Autumn, why the leaves fall  off the trees, and that in some parts of the country the trees change colors to bright reds, oranges, and yellows.

We then headed outside early for a science experiment   We used baking soda, vinegar, and  food coloring to demonstrate the reaction once we combined all the ingredients.  All our friends loved watching it "explode"!!  What a great way to end a Monday, an awesome Science experiment!!

Have a fabulous night and we will see everyone on Tuesday!!
