Time flies when you're having fun!

Howdy parents!  We have had an extra special day in the Primary room!  Unfortunately Mr. Nick is still sick and was not with us again today, but we have had the pleasure of Miss Sarah in our classroom to share in our fun!  This morning during circle time after we discussed our calendar, we talked about the reason Mr. Nick hasn’t been here is because he has been sick.  We talked over the many ways you can prevent yourself from getting sick.  We chatted about how everyone has their own germs and we need to keep those germs to ourselves.  We then listed ways we keep germs to ourselves such as, when we wash our hands and covering our coughs and sneezes with our elbows.  We discussed that even though you can’t see the germs they are still there.  Once we wrapped up circle time, we came to the table to color and cut out pictures of when we wash our hands to make a collage to put up in our classroom.  Once all our friends had completed our art project it was time for independent exploration in our classroom.  Paige had a great time exploring a puzzle that helps us practice tying our shoes, using zippers, buttons and belts.  Colette took this time to practice her counting skills with a game using eggs and an egg carton matching the number of eggs with the written number.  Caden and Leina built castles in the construction center.  Miya and Zoey continued their practice with the alphabet using our letter magnets and the alphabet board in the library.  During our story time before nap, we read a book entitled P.J. and Pete ,  this book was all about baths!  During the story we chatted about hygiene; what the word means and that taking a bath or shower every day is a very important part of hygiene.  After we all woke up from our naps we had a sensory project using shaving cream! HOW FUN!!  We put shaving cream on the table and each kiddo was able to draw pictures directly on the table with their fingers.  Miss Lizzie used the dry erase board to write letters for the kiddos to copy.  All the kiddos really enjoyed this sensory time.  While we were playing and tracing with the shaving cream we chatted about how moms and dads use shaving cream as a part of their good hygiene.  Once we all got cleaned up it was already time to go outside for our outdoor exploration and pick up! Wow, this day just flew by!  We stared a new daily activity today called ‘Daily Notes’, this activity will happen at the end of each day; Miss Lizzie or Mr. Nick will ask each kiddo what their favorite part of their day was and we will write down what they say for everyone to see.  You can check out the responses each day under the parent board in front of our room by the sign out sheet!
