We had another round of school pictures today outside, so we spent some of our inside time letting everyone run around taking candid pictures. We also took more class pictures with the students who weren't here on Monday. With the exception of a few stray looks our school picture came out amazingly well. Once we were happy with the pictures we headed inside. Our unit this week is over responsibility, so we talked about what responsibilities we have at home. Leina said she has to make her bed and clear her plate at dinner, Colette mentioned one of her responsibilities is to pick up her play clothes when she's done playing with them. Caden has a very important job which is feeding the cat so I doesn't die. Our pictures took a lot of our morning so following circle we went right into lunch. There was an accidental spill at lunch which helped bring up the idea of responsibilities a school. To help clean up Miya got a little dust pan and helped clean up some peas she had spilt on the floor. We try and find meaningful opportunities to talk about the importance of cleaning up after ourselves at school and home. Following nap and snack, the class sat down in the writing center and we did an art project with puff paint and glitter paint. The glitter paint is an amazing combination of technology because it eliminates the inevitable over use or absolute spillage of uncleanable glitter. It was decided that we should paint the solar system. We used out floor puzzle as a guide to see what we needed to put in our pictures. Zoey even said she was drawing a cloud of gas. We used the rest of our inside time finishing up our solar system pictures then headed out side for free play.
