Happy Tuesday! We started off our day observing the two black swallowtail caterpillars living in a jar with some yummy dill from the garden (Miss Ashley gave them to us yesterday.) We used the two butterfly and caterpillar field guides from the classroom to identify them as black swallowtails and talked about how dill is their host plant.
During snack Jette did the secret sack and we all admired how he wrote the clues all by himself and read the clues out loud without any help. We also checked out a box of shells, coral, and beach pictures that the pre-tot passed on to our class after finishing a beach unit and talked about possibly learning about the beach. Then we brainstormed what kind of gift we want to make for fathers day. We collectively agreed on a project and then did it, Reggio Emilia style, in which the students were provided a variety of art materials to use and were allowed to create their work they way they wanted. After nap we did more artwork and revisited the Kk box and Kk video during snack, and did a seated Kk hunt while looking around the eating area. We ended our day with yoga, which is always a blast! See you tomorrow for splash day!
