This week we will be starting a new theme in our unit "Awareness of Others'!  We are very excited about this theme this week because it will give us the opportunity to explore and discover our friends, ourselves  and children from around the world and the elements of our being that make us the very special and unique people we are.  This morning we explored our new outside playground!!! There are so many new additions to the playground outside, we have a new fall garden, and a dome sphere for climbing!! All the kiddos really enjoy climbing on the dome!  The kiddos are really using their team work skills and encouraging each other to try their best when attempting to climb to the top!  This morning during snack we assigned our new responsibilities for our 'Helper Chart', each kiddo is always very eager to be informed of what classroom responsibility they have for the week!  Once snack was over we gathered at the carpet for circle time when we discussed that we did not attend school yesterday because of a holiday called "Columbus Day'.  We explained who Columbus was and why we, The United States take the day to appreciate who and what he did!  We also discussed our new theme for the week Different Kind of Friends.  During this discussion we asked the kiddos if there are any two people in the world who are the same.  The kiddos immediately said no, we also discussed that the fact that everyone in the world is different  and that is what makes each and every individual super special!!  When we woke up from nap and gobbled up our delicious snack, we asked each child what makes them special!  We hung the answers up outside our classroom so the entire school to see!  Once we finished with this little project, we took the time to draw pictures of what we think our new garden is going to look like!  Today was a magnificent way to start our new theme, all the kiddos seem really excited to explore!!
