Welcoming Miss Arielle and Hank to the Shining Stars!

What an amazing day we had today in the Shining Star's room!  We have a new classroom, a new teacher and a new friend who started today!  Miss Arielle had her first day as a teacher in the Shining Star room, we are all so excited she will be spending everyday with us.  We also have a new friend who started today, Hank! Everyone was very excited to hear we had a new friend start in our class today.
This morning we focused most of our time in circle.  Miss Arielle led our circle time today.  We started by singing a song to see what friends are at school today.  We then went over the alphabet and sounded out each letter as we used a pointer to identify the letter and sound. We also sang the ABC song while we practiced our letters in sign language.  We then explained our new Classroom Helper chart.  Each kiddo will have a different job everyday.  They were very eager to see what their classroom helper job was today.  One of the jobs is a weather person and a calendar helper, so after we identified who was going to fulfill each job we had the opportunity to go over our calendar and see what the weather was today. We will also have two new yoga poses we will be learning during circle time.  This week is the mountain pose and sun up and sun down pose.  This will give us a chance to get up and move our bodies during circle time when we begin to become a little restless.
Once we completed circle time we took a tour of all the new centers we have in our classroom.  Miss Arielle and Miss Lizzie explained the materials we have in each center, how many kiddos can play in each center at once, and how we treat our toys and library books.  Once we went through the centers we were all very eager to explore the new learning materials.  Dax and Jasper spent their time working together to complete our  new sign language ABC puzzle, they did a great job working together and finished the puzzle all by themselves :) What great teamwork.  Joey, Rhys, and Hank enjoyed stacking blocks in the construction center while Paige and Miya worked together on an ABC puzzle.  Paige then moved her attention to what Colette was doing in the dramatic play area, they acted as if they were living in a house; Colette cooked for Paige then Tristan wanted to join in the fun as well.
After we spent time exploring our new activities we gathered back on the carpet for show and tell. The Shining Stars showed their friends so much respect as they were explaining what they had brought from home.
This afternoon we celebrated our friend Dax's 4th birthday with cookies shaped like the number 4! We sang him Happy Birthday and gave him lots of hugs to show him how much we love him and appreciate the special treat.
Miss Abby arrived right as we were washing our bowls and was ready to teach us more yoga.  Some of the kiddos were very eager to show her the yoga poses we learned this morning at circle time!  She was very impressed with all of our balance and knowledge of yoga poses.
Yoga class warmed up our bodies and we were more than ready to go play outside with our new friend Hank!
We are all so excited about all the changes we have made in the Shining Star room and cant wait to continue this new journey of learning, loving, and growing!
Have a great night and we will everyone tomorrow!
Much Love,
Miss Lizzie <3
