What a Wonderful Wednesday!

Today was an absolute blast!! The Shining Stars really jumped in today with both feet! This morning Miss Lizzie brought out an ant hill to put in our Science center! All the Shining Stars helped to find ants and rollie pollies to put in our hill.  As a group we decided we should only put rollie pollies in because the ants might bite us and we definitely want to keep our bodies safe.  Once we gathered enough rollie pollies for the day we switched gears and all acting as if we were a family.  It is so amazing to see all the kiddos play and work together to make their imaginations soar!

Once we came inside everyone was very eager to sit down and enjoy the delicious pineapple we had prepared.  During snack we discussed what type of actions we can take to help others.  Each Shining Star had great examples of helping others.  We also chatted about ways we calm our bodies down when we are upset, sad, or angry.  We all know it is okay to feel these emotions and talking to others is a very good way to resolve an issue we have.   Once we all finished up our conversations and snack we all cleaned our bowls and got ready for our art project.

Yesterday a few of us glued leaves for our ‘Giving Tree’ and today we used the rest of the leaves we found around Green Sprout to make falling leaves for our tree.   While we were gluing our leaves we chatted about all the different kinds of trees we have in this world.  We also discussed that trees are what we use to make paper products.  We gave examples of products made from paper and talked about using these products very sparingly.

We hung up our leaves to dry and headed to the carpet for circle time.  Once we did the calendar we then wanted to sing songs.  Some of the kiddos wanted to sing Christmas songs, but we decided to save those songs for the month of December.  We instead looked up Thanksgiving songs!  You Tube sure does have a lot of silly Thanksgiving songs!  We all got up and had a dance party to songs about giving thanks, turkey, friends and family!

After our awesome dance party we used this time to have independent exploration in our centers.  Leina, Zoey, Tristan and Maya painted in the art center.  Miya and Rhys started on a collage with Nick; they looked through magazines and found pictures of people helping others. Colette and Paige played with magnetic bears and dressed them up using different skirts, shoes, and shirts.  Dax used his time to build a house in the construction center for his transformers.  After we all cleaned up our areas we got on our shoes and headed outside to play before lunch.

Once we came inside we decided to have a picnic on the deck, the weather was too amazing to be inside.  While in the deck Miss Toni paid us a visit! Everyone was so happy to see her! She stayed and joined us for our picnic.

Once we came inside we all got ready for nap and read a story.  Paige picked out a great story that has a character that looks exactly like her! HOW COOL! Once we finished the book we headed to our nap mats to rest our bodies.

This afternoon we had Spanish.  Mrs. Leona led us in our favorite songs; the kiddos picked which songs they wanted to sing.  We sang songs about emotions, barn yard animals, our fingers and toes, and the itsy bitsy spider.  The Shining Stars really lived up to their name to day in Spanish!  All the parents who were picking up at this time complimented us on our singing! J  We said adios to Mrs. Leona and headed outside for afternoon pick up!
