We had a busy day. Toni, nick and lizzy were all in the primary class today. While having snack we talked about the meaning and importance of respect. Today was centered on how showing respect or disrespect to others makes them feel. We drew pictures of what angry, sad, surprised, and happy look like, and what emotion each child is feeling right now. To release a little energy following snack we had a quick dance party, with the assistance of Madonna, the girls danced down a cat walk made of carpet and the boys spun around like helicopters or did a little break dancing routine.Bringing them back to focus with some deep breaths, we entered out work stations. Caden worked on the math blocks adding the single cubes until they reached a ten block, then adding the ten blocks till they equalled the 100 block. Maya and Paige explored the science stations, with an interest in sea shells, where they come from, and how they are made. Tristan and Caden discovered magnetism, and that there are two sides to a magnet. Zoey, Dax, Leina, and Mo were enthralled with finding the different lengths of objects around the room. They measured the carpets, shelves, Toni, and each other.
Following lunch we read The Coyote and the Firefly, it was a longer story than we normally read, so when some of our younger friends attention began to wander our older friends like Leina helped them refocus for the end of the story.
We read stories and did puzzles while we waited for all our friends to wake up from their naps. Once everyone had woken up, we folded up nap mats, those who needed help often called on Leina, Paige or Zoey to help with rolling or folding.
WE have Spanish on Wednesdays. During Spanish we usually sing songs and play games, but today we did a cut and paste activity with Spanish words. Spanish is the last component of our indoor time on Wednesday and Thursday, So we cleaned up and headed outside to play a special game of tag Dax came up with involving a special Transformers ball.
