today was a very exciting day, as we got all of our friends ready for an exciting sensory project! First, we had a lovely, small picnic on the deck, while i prepared the ingredients to make the volcano, which included salt, flour, red food coloring, vinegar, and baking soda! We asked Jette and the primary class if they wanted to join in and they were just as excited!

While we mixed the flour, salt, water together, Ms Toni was showing a video of a volcanic eruption for all my friends to watch while they patiently waited! :) Next we molded the dough around the bottle, lastly we filled the bottle with warm water, red food coloring and baking soda, and finally Jette poured in the vinegar, as we counted down to ten, it erupted and everyone screamed! We poured a little more vinegar in and watched it erupt, before asking the pre tots to join us outside to watch it too!

After nap, we woke up, we got ready for splash day! we marched out to the deck, and enjoyed the after

We spent the morning outside, enjoying the beautiful weather, before coming in for lunch and nap.

After nap, ms Abby greeted everyone and we got ready for Yoga. Ms Abby brought a special book to class, which everyone was excited to read! Each page, Abby would read off clues that would describe a different animal, Teo and Alanna guessed first and were correct most of the time. while Ancel, Sophie, Noah and Ivy observed, then tried to mimic the pose of the animal. Mostly everyone was able to do it, which made it  more exciting as they stretched and manipulated their bodies to the poses. We said goodbye to Ms abby and sat for snack. As more friends got picked up,

Tuesday Umbrellas!

We started out the day in the beautiful weather outside. We discussed what it means to be “under” the tree and “under” the playscape, as well as how the word “under” begins with the letter “U” which is our letter of the week! We headed inside for morning snack, and friends gladly served themselves their extra servings. We had a discussion about “the serving spoon” and how we don’t put it in our mouths when we’re sharing it! Sophie brought The Very Hungry Caterpillar to school, and so we read it. Many of our friends are very familiar with this book, so Theo, Teo, Ivy, and Alanna talked about what was going to happen next after each page. We moved on to circle time soon after, and had fun making letters with pipe cleaners. Olive was super excited so show us how she could make an “O” for Olive. Paislie had fun requesting letters. Theo talked about making the letter “J” that starts the name Jackie. Sophie and Asher were curious about how to make U’s and J’s using the pipe cleaners. Then, I demonstrated how we can make pipe cleaners “curly” and how we can turn them into small umbrellas for the letter “U.” Every one had fun posing for a picture and saying “the letter U” and “umbrella.” Then, we had an umbrella dance party. They had so much fun, we had to dedicate some time to repairing umbrellas afterword! We headed outside and came in for lunch and nap! After nap there was yoga!

It was such a great morning, as the the sky was cloudy and the breeze was nice. Theo helped me pull out the watermelon, and asked me to take a picture! he was super excited to show his friends and other teachers.

Ancel, Teo, and Theo found a beam they decided to balance on the log and border, walking down and balancing. We all made our way to the sand box, where we "cooked", "ate", and sang songs!

after nap, Ancel Theo and Asher had a "tea party", Theo serving his friends while Asher sat wearing his fishing hat, and "sipped" his tea.

Ms Abby made her way in, even with a raspy voice, she sang all of their favorite songs. We did some stretches before abby passed out "pom-poms" for our friends to practice their breaths on. We gave them back to Abby then she brought out the breathing ball, taking turns, starting with Jackie! Everyone took 2 turns, then passed it. We said goodbye and sat for snack. Soon after ma

Tooth paste making and Teeth brushing! :)

it was a beautiful Friday as we had an awesome dance party/costume party outside with our pre-tot and primary friends!

we then marched inside for snack and our friday cooking project, but today was not necessarily cooking but more like "making"! We made peppermint tooth paste! I had all my friends sit around the table as introduced the four ingredients : organic coconut oil, baking soda, stevia powder, and peppermint oil. i added the ingredients, as jackie walked around having friends smell the oil, and help mix the baking soda, coconut oil, and stevia powder. we mixed it till it was the consistency of tooth paste, then put it in a small jar, in the fridge to get cool.

after nap, we enjoyed centers, dance party again, and lots of fun "T" books! before snack we each took turns brushing our teeth, Theo volunteered first, so he went up to show us his skills! they all enjoyed watching Theo and were each very eager to take their turns. It was great to see them practicing their skills of brushing, spitting, and rinsing out their mouth. They all had a blast tasting the tooth paste and showing off their tooth brushes!

We closed out the Friday afternoon outside, enjoying the play ground, and mister!

Tea Party Thursday!

It was a fabulous Thursday! We started out with lots of anticipation for this grand tea party! Sophie's family donated a beautiful tea set which supplemented the mugs that were brought by every one. Every one got to taste a little bit of honey, then we brewed the organic Central Market camomile tea. Most of our friends enjoyed the taste, and we had fun talking about trying to lift a pinky, which Asher and Noah sometimes do naturally! We enjoyed our tea for a long period of time and practiced taking small sips and using inside voices at the table.

Later that day we had a fun splash time!

Love,

another rainy day, but that didn't stop us from having great exploration! We sat and read "Toad" for circle time, everyone was so amazed and excited at the pictures in the book as they looked so realistic. Asher asked to read it once we were all done, and theo, ivy, and alanna stuck around to check it out up close!

we soon sat for some art. I brought out tissue paper and paper that had the letter T on it! each friend took a turn putting glue onto their T, then tearing up tissue paper and sticking it to the glue! we noticed the clouds parting and attempted to go outside. The kiddos got out their energy by doing laps around the play scape and running up and down the ramp! we checked on the garden before marching in for lunch.

after nap we got ready for splash day! we marched out with the pre tots, and started to splash. the black clouds started to roll back in when we cleaned up and went in for diapers and snack. we ended our day with dance party and lots of fun indoor activities for this rain

The Letter "T"

7/15/2013

Today was all about the letter "T"! We played fun games like "i spy" things that start with T! trains, tissues, and much more. We read 3 books that start with the letter T, "TOES", "From Head to Toes", and "Penguin Turtle Day"!

It starting raining so we brought play doh, and worked on rolling it into balls and thin string like, i showed my friends how to make a letter T with their play doh.

After nap, Ms Abby stopped in to say hello before going to see the pre tots. When she came back they all found their "X's" and sat criss cross apple sauce. Archer and Rosie (Theo's brother and mom) stayed for a bit and joined in on the yoga fun!

We had snack, which was nice and relaxing with all my friends giggling as they enjoyed their snack. We then cleaned up and sat for an art project! They painted over tape in the shape of a T, everyone adding their own little creative flair, Ivy and Noah doing just dots, with one finger, while Alanna, Teo, Sophie, Olive, and Ancel had a full on sensory exploration moment, completely covering their paper and tape so much that the colors mixed and turned purple :) they had so much fun painting with their fingers and hands and almost did not want to wash their hands quite yet! We finally had to move their beautiful art so it could dry, as we cleaned up and enjoyed the afternoon indoors reading books and rolling cars around with the pre-tots!

Much Love
