What a wonderful week we had continuing our festive fall flair in the classroom!
To start off the week, our Bluebonnets were each given their individuals pumpkins that they decorated during the previous Friday's community paint-off on the playground. The toddlers were so excited to hold their beautiful finished works in their hands and placed them on the windowsill in the classroom facing the playground. They look absolutely stunning in the sunlight! After admiring our painted works of art, we had a long discussion about pumpkins and learned all about how they grow and the different kinds of foods that one can make with a pumpkin! To add more hands-on experience to our learning, each Bluebonnet used their senses to feel, smell, and look at the colors of their pumpkins that they each brought in this week (thank you again toddler grown-ups for helping with this)! Our Bluebonnets then put their artistic skills to quite a bit of work once again decorating their very own pumpkins! Using red and purple paint, glitter, stickers, and googly eyes, their pumpkin decorating was both colorful and creative! We didn't only put our efforts toward our artwork this week, but also devoted our bodies and minds to a great yoga class, Spanish class, and Chinese class. Our Bluebonnets are really picking up on their new Chinese words quickly! Our week ended with an even more festive and fun Friday than usual as we celebrated our amazing guide, Ms. Ashley's, birthday! We spent the morning having a brief community play time with our Primary friends and danced the rest of the day underneath our classroom decorations and out on the playground! The birthday celebration ended with a special vegan coconut sorbet treat for our afternoon snack! It was a week and day filled with a whole lot of fun and love! Speaking of love.... Your toddler guides would like to extend an immense amount of gratitude to our Bluebonnet families. Your Sprouts are truly blossoming and it is your constant love, guidance, support, and devotion both in and out of school that helps make that possible! We love you all! Have a wonderful and peaceful week! Love, Jodie

This past week was spent feeling festive for fall and prepping for our potluck! Our fall-tastic art projects had our Bluebonnets decorating a cornstalk cutout garland with popcorn, painting more leaves with autumn-inspired colors and a whole lot of glitter, and using Legos and paint to make prints on paper pumpkins! We finished off our week with a community paint off on the playground, each decorating our very own mini pumpkins that will be featured in our Welcome Center at school! Please be sure to check them out when you drop off and pick up your Sprout, and please join us at Central Market on Sunday for a fun and festive potluck and to check out our Bluebonnets' incredible decorations!
Along with welcoming a new season into our classroom, we also introduced some new Montessori works, games and activities! Our typical "Show-and-Tell" Wednesday turned into an activity of "Show, Tell, and Share," as our Bluebonnets shared their items with their friends, each Sprout taking a turn playing with and learning about their friend's special show-and-tell for the week! We also introduced a new memory game, "Seek a Boo," that allowed our Bluebonnets to practice their memory and turn-taking skills! They were full of smarts and smiles the whole time! Our toddlers were more than ready for our Spanish and Chinese classes and practiced the words for numbers, colors, and animals in both languages! We have had a very fun, colorful, and festive week and we can't wait for the weather to catch up with our autumn inspiration and decoration! Have a wonderful and peaceful week! Love, Jodie While the weather was still warm, we spent the past week welcoming the fall season into our classroom! Our Bluebonnets painted the town red, orange, gold, and brown this week, creating a hanging sculpture with sticks and leaves decorated in autumn-colored paints and glitter! We also decided it was time to add some fall inspiration into our daily meditation with a new meditation jar full of orange, red, and gold glitter and small fall-themed figurines including corn stalks, leaves, and an owl! We ended our artful week decorating masks in orange and black for the upcoming Halloween holiday!
Adding even more music to our week than usual, we welcomed a special guest to join us on Monday afternoon for an activity of harmony and harmonicas! Our Bluebonnets were movin' and groovin' dancing to the music! Exercising our bodies with yoga and our minds with Spanish and Chinese classes, we stretched our mental muscles even more this week as the friends were introduced to a couple of new Montessori works, helping with their color and matching skills. The week wouldn't be complete without an afternoon of music, dancing, balloons, and bubbles! Our fantastically fun Friday finished in a particularly fashionable way as our Bluebonnets received their picture day Sprout t-shirts and wore them proudly around the school! Have a wonderful and peaceful week! Love, Jodie Last week our Bluebonnets buzzed all over Green Sprout learning all about bees! We discovered how bees make honey and help pollinate our flowers! Our friends also shared books and information cards about bees and we learned all about their colonies, stingers, hives, and honeycombs!
Our art projects were super sweet and fly just like our Bluebonnet bumblebees! We made honeycomb print paintings using small squares of bubble wrap and orange and yellow paint. Our Bluebonnets also used their best and very own art utensils - their fingers! - and yellow paint to finger print bees on to a canvas drawing of a honeycomb! With our brains fully exercised from all of our new knowledge about bees, we were more than ready for our Spanish class with Miss Daphne and our second week of Chinese class with Miss Siugi! We sure do love language at Green Sprout! Our minds were buzzing with all of our learning and mental exercise so we were very excited to put our bodies to work for our last week of double yoga in the classroom! As the weather has started to cool down lately, we might soon be saying goodbye to our bumblebees, but we are definitely saying hello to much more outside playground time running, playing, and tending to our gardens! Our Bluebonnets are very eager and excited to welcome the fall season, and created a feather and beaded hanging sculpture to embrace nature and the changing seasons even more into our classroom. We know that autumn will inspire many more nature-based art projects and we can't wait to get started! Have a wonderful and peaceful week! Love, Jodie |
